The Commission of the City of Bozeman met in regular session in the Commission Room, Municipal
Building, 29 November 1972, at l:l5 o'clock p.m. Present were Mayor Grabow, Commissioner Lehrkind,
Commissioner Vandeventer, Commissioner Vollmer, City Manager Fryslie, Ass't. City Manager Keyes, Acting
City Attorney O'Connell and the Clerk.
Commissioner Lehrkind opened the meeting with a prayer and the following proceedings were had:
Minutes of the regular meeting held Wednesday, 22 November 1972 were approved as read.
Authorize Absence of Commissioner Sedivy:
In concurrence with the recommendation of the City Manager, it was moved by Commissioner Lehrkind,
seconded by Commissioner Vandeventer, that the absence of Commissioner Sedivy be authorized in compliance
with Section 11-3245, R.C.M., 1947. The motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those
voting Aye being Commissioner Lehrkind, Commissioner Vandeventer, Commissioner Vollmer and Mayor
Grabow; those voting No, none.
Authority to Purchase 30 5/8 x 3/4" Water Meters - $1,100.00:
The water department has need for 30 5/8" x 3/4" water meters and the City Manager requested
authority to purchase the water meters at a cost of $1,100.00. It was moved by Commissioner Vande-
venter seconded by Commissioner Vollmer, that the request to purchase the water meters be granted and
the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Commissioner Vande-
venter, Commissioner Vollmer, Commissioner Lehrkind and Mayor Grabow; those voting No, none.
Don Norem: Regarding Receipt of Tax Notice, Special Improvement District No. 502:
Mr. Don Norem appeared before the Commission to inquire about the receipt of an assessment
covering Special Improvement District No. 502 which he was not aware of and expressed his concern
thereof. Mayor Grabow thanked Mr. Norem for coming down and advised him that the City would invest-
igate the Special Improvement District No. 502 assessment and would contact him in regard to same
at an early date.
Bozeman Area Plan 1972 for Adoption:
Mr. Rick Mayfield appeared before the Commission to present and discuss the 1972 Bozeman Area
plan developed through his department and the guidance of the City-County Planning Board. He advised
the Commission that the County Commissioners adopted the plan at their meeting held Monday, 27 November.
Following a discussion, the Commission concurred with the recommendation of the City Manager and
it was moved by Commissioner Vollmer, seconded by Commissioner Lehrkind, that they adopt the 1972 Boze-
mand Area Comprehensive Plan as presented and commend Mr. Mayfield and his small staff and the members
of the Planning Board on the tremendous amount of work they have done in such a short time. The motion
was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being commissioner Vollmer, Commissioner
TIehrkind, Commissioner Vandeventer and Mayor Grabow; those voting No, none.
Humble Oil Company - Variance Sign Code:
A letter received from the Humble Oil Company requesting a variance of the Sign Code 14.l6.3803C
of the Bozeman Municipal Code for the installation of a wooden sign at 1205 East Main Street was presented.
Following a discussion, the City Manager recommended that the variance to the Sign Code from Humble
Oil Company be approved as presented. It was moved by Commissioner Lehrkind, seconded by Commissioner
Vandeventer, that the concurr in the City Managers recommendation that Humble Oil Company be granted a
variance of the Sign Code l4.16.3803C of the Bozeman Municipal Code for the installation of a wooden
sign at l205 East Main Street. The motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting
Aye being Commissioner Lehrkind, Commissioner Vandeventer, Commissioner Vollmer and Mayor Grabow; those
voting No, none.
Final Plat - Bridger View Mobile Home Court No.3:
The final plat of the Bridger View Mobile Home Court No. 3 being developed by Montana Industrial
Development Corporation presented along with the favorable recommendation of the City-County Planning
Board was removed from the table for further discussion. It was moved by Commissioner Vandeventer,
seconded by Commissioner Vollmer, that in view of the additional information along with the City Engineers
recommendation as to whether or not the Bridger View Mobile Home Court No. 3 could be served with sanitary
sewer, the final plat be returned to the City County Planning Board for further study and recommendation.
The motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Commissioner Vandeventer,
Commissioner Vollmer, Commissioner Lehrkind and Mayor Grabow; those voting No, none.
Adjournment:
There being no further business to come
and carried that the meeting be adjourned.
