ZoningCheck and Click2Gov Presentation Commission Memorandum REPORT TO: Mayor and City Commission FROM: Chris Saunders, Policy and Planning Manager Martin Matsen, Director of Community Development SUBJECT: Launch of ZoningCheck and Click2Gov software for business licensing and zoning compliance. MEETING DATE: November 28, 2016 AGENDA ITEM TYPE: Special Presentation BACKGROUND/SUMMARY: The Department of Community Development administers the City’s business license program. The Department is announcing new software services to improve customer service and facilitate understanding of where business may be located in Bozeman. ZoningCheck allows a user to quickly investigate where different uses may be allowed and what kind of permitting process is needed. The software enables map searches at both the use and parcel levels. The user can quickly determine zoning locations and can follow up for more information. If more data is needed than the service provides there is an inquiry tool to send an email to the City. The software allows the City to track the number of searches conducted, locations where individual parcels were checked, zoning districts checked, business types, and review processes. The funding for the project is shared by the departments of Community Development and Economic Development. The Click2Gov software is the same as used for utility billing. It has been expanded to enable business license holders to review license information, update information, and make license inquiries. Many types of businesses may, for the first time, use the software to easily renew business licenses online. Both software services may be accessed from the Business License web page, http://www.bozeman.net/Departments/Community-Dev-/Business-Licenses. FISCAL EFFECTS: Funding for these service is a budgeted item. Report compiled on: November 16, 2016 105
