HomeMy WebLinkAbout1972-04-12 - 250 Bozeman, Montana 12 April 1972 The Commission of the City of Bozeman met in regular session in the Commission Room, Municipal Building, 12 April 1972, at 1:15 o'clock p.m. Present were Mayor Grabow, Commissioner Sedivy, Commissioner Lehrkind, Commissioner Vandeventer, Commissioner Vollmer, A.cting City Manager Keyes, Acting City Attorney Andrio10 and the Clerk. Commissioner Vollmer opened the meeting with a prayer and the following proceedings were had. Minutes of the regular meeting held 5 April 1972 were approved as read. Open Bids on One-Half Ton Pickup Truck for Park Department: This was the time and place set for opening bids on a new 1972 Model 1/2 ton pickup truck with a six foot fleet side pickup box for use by the Park department. The affidavit of publication of the "Call for Bids" was presented. It was moved by COmmissioner Sedivy, seconded by Commissioner Lehrkind, that the bids be opened and read and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Commissioner Sedivy, Commissioner Lehrkind, Commissioner Vandeventer, Commissioner Vollmer, and Mayor Grabow; those voting No, none. The following bids were then opened and read: Don Norem Chevrolet $2,974.51 Owenhouse Hardware 2,855.00 " " Alternate 2,710.00 Upon recommendation of the Acting City Manager, it was moved by Commissioner Lehrkind, seconded by Commissioner Vandeventer, that the bids be referred to the Park Superintendent and the City En- gineer for tabulation and recommendation to be made to the Commission at their next meeting on Wed- nesday, 19 April 1972, and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Commissioner Vandeventer, Commissioner Lehrkind, Commissioner Vollmer, Commissioner Sedivy and Mayor Grabow; those voting No, none. Petition to Vacate Alleys in Brady's Rearrangement of the Babcock Davis Addition: A petition signed by Twenty property owners requesting that a 10' alley lying north of Lot 1, Block 7, Babcock and Davis Addition and north 10' of Lots D, E and L of Brady's Rearrangement of Babcock & Davis Addition; also 10' wide north south alley lying between Lots A, B, C, D, and E, F, G, H, and 10' wide north south alley lying between lots I, J, K, L, of said Brady's rearrangement and Lots 1 thru 5 of Block 7 of Babcock & Davis Addition within the City of Bozeman be vacated was presen ted. Following a thorough discussion, the COmmission concurred with the recommendation of the Acting City Manager and it was moved by Commissioner Vandeventer, seconded by Commissioner Vollmer, that the request to vacate the alley be approved and that the Acting City Manager instruct the City Engineer to furnish the Acting City Attorney with the necessary information to enable him to draw up an or- dinance to accomplish the vacation of the above alley. The motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Commissioner Vandeventer, Commissioner Vollmer, Commissioner Sedivy, Commissioner Lehrkind and Mayor Grabow; those voting No, none. Request to Hold Marathon Softball Game 28 April, Fund Drive 24 April 1972: Gary Richards ~epresenting the Softball Association appeared before the Commission in regard to requesting permission to hold a fund drive to begin Monday, 24 April and permission to stage a marathon softball game to begin Friday, 28 April and continue until they have raised the total of $30,000.00 or until Sunday evening. He stated he had contacted the police Department for their cooperation. The Commission concurred with the recommendation of the Acting City Manager and it was moved by Commissioner Vollmer, seconded by Commissioner Sedivy, that permission to hold the fund drive and the Softball marathon be granted with cooperation from the Police department. The motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Commissioner Vollmer, Comm- issioner SediVY, Commissioner Vandeventer, Commissioner Lehrkind and Mayor Grabow; those voting No, none. Proclamation: U.S. Army Reserve Community Month - April: In accordance with a request from the United States Army Reserve Center, Mayor Grabow announced his proclamation of April 1972 as "U.S. Army Reserve Community Month" in honoring the Army Reserve in Bozeman as a part of this nation's wide effort on their 64th anniversary of the U.S. Army Reserve. It was moved by Commissioner Sedivy, seconded by Commissioner Lehrkind, that they endorse the Mayors proclamation and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Commissioner Sedivy, Commissioner Lehrkind, COmmissioner Vandeventer, Commissioner Vollmer and Mayor Grabow; those voting No, none. I I I I I I Continuation Bond: Bingham Mechanical and Metal Products Inc.,: In compliance with Chapter 16 of the Bozeman Municipal Code, the plumber and gas fitter bond of the Bingham Mechanical & Metal Products, Inc., was presented. The Acting City Manager stated the Building Inspector had recommended approval of the bond and the Acting City Attorney approved the bond as to form. It was moved by Commissioner Lehrkind, seconded by Commissioner Vandeventer, that the bond be approved and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Commissioner Lehrkind, Commissioner Vandeventer, Commissioner Vollmer, Commissioner Sedivy and Mayor Grabow; those voting No, none. Request to Hold Musical Festival at Bogart's Grove on 13 May 1972: A request from Ritchie Secor for permission to use Bogart's Grove on Saturday, 13 May 1972, to conduct a musical festival, the proceeds to be obtained by donations to go entirely to the Amer- ican Cancer Society waspresented. It was moved by Commissioner Lehrkind, seconded by Commissioner Vandeventer, that pelmission to hold the Musical Festival be granted and that the area be restored to a clean and orderly condition following the activities and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: Those voting Aye being Commissioner Lehrkind, Commissioner Vandeventer, Commissioner Vollmer, Commissioner Sedivy and Mayor Grabow; those voting No, none. Reports: The following reports were presented. Police Chief Police Court Director of Public Service The Acting City Manager commented on the reports and recommended approval thereof. It was moved by Commissioner Vandeventer, seconded by Commissioner Vollmer, that the reports be approved and or- dered filed and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Commissioner Vandeventer, Commissioner Vollmer, Commissioner Sedivy, COmmissioner Lehrkind, and Mayor Grabow; those voting No, none. Request to place Modular Home at l004 L. Street: A request from Gary France, lOlO L. Street, Bozeman, for permission to install a modular home on their property at 1004 L. Street was presented. Following a thorough discussion and in concurrence with the recommendation of the Acti~g City Manager, it was moved by Commissioner Sedivy, seconded by Commissioner Lehrkind, that the request be tabled for a period of one week for a legal opinion and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Commissioner Sedivy, Commissioner Lehrkind, Commissioner Vandeventer, COmmissioner Vollmer and Mayor Grabow; those voting No, none. Ad j ournmen t: There being no further business to come before the Commission at this time, it was moved by Commissioner Lehrkind, seconded by Commissioner Vandeventer, that the meeting be adjourned and the motion was carried by the following voting Aye, Commissioner Lehrkind, Commissioner Vandeventer, Commissioner Vollmer, Commissioner Sedivy and Mayor Grabow; No, none.
