HomeMy WebLinkAbout1972-05-10 I I I 261 Bozeman, Montana 10 May 1972 The Commission of the City of Bozeman met in regular session in the Commission Room, Municipal Building, lO May 1972, at l:l5 o'clock p.m. Present were Mayor Grabow, Commissioner Sedivy, Comm- issioner Lehrkind, Commissioner Vandeventer, Commissioner Vollmer, Acting City Manager Keyes, Acting City Attorney O'Connell and the Clerk. Commissioner Vollmer opened the meeting with a prayer and the following proceedings were had: Minutes of the regular meeting held 3 May 1972 were approved as read. Request to Hold Fireworks Display at Old Elks Country Club, 4 July 1972, Exchange Club: A request from the Exchange Club for permission to use the Old Country Club ground for their annual Fourth of July Fireworks display to be held on 4 July 1972 was presented. It was moved by Commissioner Sedivy, seconded by Commissioner Lehrkind, that permission to stage the fireworks dis- play on Tuesday, 4 July 1972, as requested be granted and that a letter be addressed to the Exchange Club congratulating them on this being the best fireworks display ever held and expressing the apprec- iation of the City Commission on the way they restricted the individual fireworks in the past. The motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Commissioner Sedivy, Commissioner Lehrkind. Commissioner Vandeventer, Commissioner Vollmer and Mayor Grabow; those voting No, none. Authorization to Purchase 700 Ft of Cast Iron Water Pipe, jpproximately $2,300.00: The Water Department has need for 700 feet of Cast Iron Water Pipe in the approximate amount of $2,300.00 and the Acting City Manager requested authority to purchase the pipe. It was moved by Commissioner Lehrkind, seconded by Commissioner Vandeventer, that the Acting City Manager be granted authority to purchase the 700 feet of Cast Iron Pipe and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Commissioner Lehrkind, Commissioner Vandeventer, Commiss- ioner Vollmer, Commissioner Sedivy and Mayor Grabow; those voting No, none. Request for Permission to hold Peace March - Saturday, 13 May 1972: A letter received from Michael J. O'Hanlon of the Gallatin Valley Citizens for Peace, request- ing permission to conduct a silent, peaceful Peace March on Saturday, 13 May 1972, from 1:00 to 4:00 o'clock p.m. from Kirk Park to Main Street and to proceed down Main Street to the corner of Lindley Park with an invocation to be held at Lindley Park was presented. Following a thorough discussion, it was moved by Commissioner Vandeventer, seconded by Commis& ioner Sedivy, that the request to hold the Peace March be granted and that the police be contacted in regard to traffic arrangements as to the march. The motion was carried by the following voting Aye; Commissioner Vandeventer, Commissioner Sedivy, Commissioner Lehrkind and Mayor Grabow; those voting No being Commissioner Vollmer. Reports: The following reports were presented. Director of Public Service Police Chief Sewage Plant Operator The Acting City Manager cOmmented on the reports and recommended approval thereof. It was moved by Commissioner Vollmer, seconded by Commissioner Sedivy,. that the reports be approved and ordered filed and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Commissioner Vollmer, Commissioner Sedivy, Commissioner Lehrkind, Commissioner Vandeventer and Mayor Grabow; those voting No, none. Claims (Continued): Claim No's. 13162 thru l3l87 inclusive were presented: the Cemetery $ l03.25 Park $ l85.75 Cemetery Suspense l20.00 Parking Meter 224.00 Garbage 9.75 SDS l25.8l General 47l.58 SID's 6,420.60 Library 12.56 Street 33.64 Water 346.57 Total $8,053.5l The Acting City Manager checked ~e claims and found them to be true and lawful claims against City and recommended they be approved and the Director of Finance be directed to issue warrants in payment. It was moved by Commissioner Sedivy, seconded by Commissioner Lehrkind, that the claims be approved and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Commissioner Sedivy, Commissioner Lehrkind, Commissioner Vandeventer, Commissioner Vollmer, and Mayor Grabow; those voting No, none. 262 Petition - Traffic Hazard at the Corner of Willson and Olive Street: A petition signed by 88 property owners living in the area of South Willson Avenue and West Olive Street in regard to the traffic hazard on the corner of Willson Avenue and Olive Street was presented. Following a thorough discussion, it was moved by Commissioner Lehrkind, seconded by Commiss- ioner Vandeventer, that the Acting City Manager be instructed to acknowledge receipt of the petition and that the staff be instructed to work on solving the traffic problem in the above mentioned area. The motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Commissioner Lehr- kind, Commissioner Vandeventer, Commissioner Vollmer, Commissioner Sedivy and Mayor Grabow; those voting No, none. Ad i ournmen t : There being no further business to come before the Commission at this time, it was moved by Commissioner Vandeventer, seconded by Commissioner Vollmer, that the meeting be adjourned and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being COmmissioner Vandeventer, Commissioner Vollmer, Commissioner Sedivy, Commissioner Lehrkind and Mayor Grabow; those voting No, none.
