HomeMy WebLinkAbout11-15-16 Public Comment - R. Brown - Black OliveSirs,
Last summer, 150 citizens assembled at Wilson School in opposition to the Black/Olive project.
Estimating that the average number of years each of these people lived in Bozeman is 20 years,
they represent 3000 collective years pursuing a quality of life here.
Andy Holloran has lived here 5. This calculates out to a 600 to one ratio. I believe that the
number
of years that someone has lived here, though good times and bad, needs to be taken in into
consideration
- along with all the other factors that this project violates.
1. It has no consideration whatsoever to its neighbors.
2. Architecturally, it does not fit into the downtown.
3. It's mass and scale are wrong.
4. It has no consideration for the parking and traffic congestion that it will cause.
5. It'a proposed rents are far above the average.
I ask you to consider the citizens who moved here or stayed here in pursuit of the quality of life -
as
opposed to one developer who moved here for profits. He stated at the last meeting that, Black
Olive,
"Will be the poster child for projects to come." He has no intention of easing his assault on the
magic of
Bozeman. I am asking you to reject the Black Olive project.
Petaluma, CA and Pasadena, CA have honored their historic districts while allowing
development. The character of their neighborhoods and downtown were honored - so it can
happen.
We are not against sensitive development but we do not want Bozeman to become another
generic Everytown, USA!
