HomeMy WebLinkAbout1971-08-11 154 BOZEMAN, MONTANA II Augus t 1971 The Commission of the City of Bozeman met in regular session in the Commission Room, Municipal Building, 11 August 1971, at 1:15 o'clock p.m. Present were Mayor Langohr, Commissioner Grabow, Commissioner Lehrkind, Commissioner Vollmer, Commissioner Sedivy, City Manager Fryslie, Assistant City Manager Keyes, City Attorney Berg and the Clerk. Commissioner Grabow opened the meeting with a prayer and the following proceedings were had. Minutes of the regular meeting held 4 August 1971 were approved as read. Minutes of the special meeting held 9 August 1971 were approved as read. wlication for Gas Tax Funds to Surface Durston Road, 7th to 11th - $5,573.88, HB l~2, 436 & 254: A discussion was held in regard to an application to be paid for from Gas Tax funds allocated to the City under provisions of House Bills No. 42, 436 and 254 and complying with Rules and Regu- lations promulgated by the Montana State Highway Commission for the purpose of applying 2" of 3/4" crushed cushion on present base, oil penetration, lay 3" road mix of 3/4" aggregate on Durston Road from a poInt 25' west of West Right-of-way 7th Avenue North to 11th Avenue North at an estimated cost of $5,573.88. The Commission concurred in the recommendation of the City Manager and it was moved by Comm- issioner Vollmer, seconded by Commissioner Sedivy, that the City Manager be authorized to submit the application to the Montana State Highway Commission in the estimated amount of $5,573.88 of House Bills No. 42, 436 and 254 funds and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Commissioner Vollmer, Commissioner Sedivy, Commissioner Grabow, Commissioner Lehrkind and Mayor Langohr; those voting No, none. Application for Gas Tax Fund to Install 25' pavement Durston Road - $1,000.00: An application to install a 25' pavement section west of the westerly line of North Seventh Avenue at Durston Road to provide a base for traffic light detector at an estimated cost of $1,000.00 to be paid for from Gas Tax funds allocated to the City under provisions of House Bills No. 42, 436 and 254 and complying with Rules and Regulations promulgated by the Montana State Highway Commiss- ion for administration of the Act was presented. It was moved by Commissioner Sedivy, seconded by Commissioner Grabow, that the Application be submitted to the Montana Highway Commission as present- ed above and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Comm- issioner Sedivy, Commissioner Grabow, Commissioner Lehrkind, Commissioner Vollmer and Mayor Langohr; those voting No, none. Application t~ Purchase Gravel from Gas Tax Fund: Approximately $13,500.00: An application for the purchase of crushed gravel for use in reconstructing and improving un- paved streets and alleys in the following quantities: 3,000 Tons 1-1/2" Gravel - - - - $ 2,000 Tons 3/4" Gravel - - - - 4,000 Tons 1/2" Gravel - - - - 4,500.00 3,000.00 6,000.00 $13,500.00 (Estimated) to be paid for from Gas Tax Funds allocated to the City of Bozeman under provisions Extraordinary Session House Bill No. 42, and complying with Rules and Regulations promulgated by the Montana State Highway Commission for administration of the Act was presented. Following a discussion, it was moved by Commissioner Grabow, seconded by Commissioner Lehrkind, that the application for the purchase of crushed gravel be signed and submitted to the Montana State Highway Commission and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Commissioner Grabow, Commissioner Lehrkind, Commissioner Vollmer, Commissioner Sedivy and Mayor Langohr; those voting No, none. License Bond Continuatiori - Cotton House Moving: $2,000.00: In accordance with the provisions of Ordinance No. 785, the continuation certificate for the Building Movers Bond as surety for a moving permit on Cotton House Moving Company, Helena, Montana was presented. The Building Inspector had recommended that the above bond be approved and the City Attorney approved the bonds as to form. It was moved by Commissioner Lehrkind, seconded by Comm- issioner Vollmer, that the bond be approved and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Commissioner Lehrkind, Commissioner Vollmer, Commissioner Sedivy, Commissioner Grabow and Mayor Langohr; those voting No, none. Auth~~ to Attend Arson School - Assistant Fire Chief, Missoula, 16-19 August 1971: The second annual Fire and Arson Seminar is scheduled to be held in Missoula, 16-19 August and the Fi.re Chief requested authority to send Assistant Fire Chief Hoey to the above mentioned seminar, and, it being in the public interest his expenses be paid from the General F d un. It was moved by I I I I I I Commissioner Vollmer, seconded by Commissioner Sedivy, that the above request be granted and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Commissioner Vollmer, Commissioner Sedivy, Commissioner Grabow, Commissioner Lehrkind and Mayor Langohr; those voting No, none. Reports: The following reports were presented: Police Judge Police Chief The City Manager commented on the reports and recommended the approval thereof. It was moved by Commissioner Sedivy, seconded by Commissioner Grabow, that the reports be approved and ordered filed and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Commiss- ioner Sedivy, Commissioner Grabow, Commissioner Lehrkind. Commissioner Vollmer and Mayor Langohr; those voting No, none. ~_()roptimist Park - Authorize Construction at an estimated Cost of $3,000.00: It was moved by Commissioner Grabow, seconded by Commissioner Lehrkind, that authority be granted W. D. Howells Construction Company to do some concrete work and that Marx and Hanson Company be granted authority to construct some planters and a water fountain in the Soroptimist Park located at the corner of Main Street and Rouse Avenue at an estimated cost of $3.000.00. The motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: Those voting Aye being Commissioner Grabow, Commissioner Lehrkind, Commissioner Vollmer, Commissioner Sedivy and Mayor Langohr; those voting No, none.
