HomeMy WebLinkAbout1971-08-18 156 Bozeman, Montana 18 Augus t 1971 MINUTES OF THE t~ETING OF THE CITY COMMISSION The commission of the City of Bozeman met in regular session in the Commission Room, Municipal Building, 18 August 1971. at 1:15 o'clock P.M. Present were Mayor Langohr, Commissioner Grabow, Commissioner Lehrkind, Commissioner Vollmer, Commissioner Sedivy, City Manager Fryslie. Acting City Attorney O'Connell and the Acting Clerk. Commissioner Lehrkind opened the meeting with a prayer and the following proceedings were had: Minutes of the regular meeting held 11 August 1971 were approved as read. ACTING CLERK OF THE COMMISSION R.F. KEYES Due to the absence of Clerk of the City Commission Erna Harding, it was moved by Commissioner Lehrkind. seconded by Commissioner Vollmer, that Ass't. City Manager Robert F. Keyes be appointed Acting Clerk of the Commission and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Commissioner Lehrkind, Commissioner vollmer. Commissioner Sedivy, Commissioner Grabow and Mayor Langohr; those voting No. none. Pedestrian Safety Award - American Automobile Association - Dean Chaffin: A pedestrian safety award was presented to the City of Bozeman on behalf of the American Automobile Association by Mr. Dean Chaffin, President of the Montana Chapter, for a safety record of no pedestrian fatalities during the years 1969 and 1970. It was moved by Commissioner Vollmer, seconded by Commissioner Sedivy, that Mr. Chaffin and the American Automobile Association be thanked for this award and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Commissioner Vollmer, Commissioner Sedivy. Commissioner Grabow. Commissioner Lehrkind and Mayor Langohr; those voting No. none. Ordinance No. 908 - Appropriation for Fiscal Year 1971-1972, Final adoption: The Affidavit of Publication of the Annual Appropriation Ordinance for the fiscal year ending 30 June 1972 was presented with Appropriation Ordinance No. 908, entitled: ORDINANCE NO. 908 AN ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING MONIES FOR EXPENDITURES DEEMED NECESSARY AND IN ACCORDANCE WITH BUDGETARY REQUIREMENTS FOR MAINTENANCE ETC., OF THE MUNICIPAL GOVERNMENT OF THE CITY OF BOZEMAN, MONTANA FOR THE FISCAL YEAR ENDING 30 JUNE 1972. The City Manager stated that he knew no reason to suggest any change in the Ordinance since it had been provisionally passed the 21st day of July 1971 and a public hearing held 4 August 1971 and therefore recommended fina1adoption thereof. It was moved by COmmissioner Sedivy. seconded by Commissioner Grabow, that Appropriation Ordinance No. 908 be finally passed and adopted and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Commissioner Sedivy, Commissioner Grabow, Commissioner Lehrkind, Commissioner Vollmer and Mayor Langohr; those voting No, none. Application for Beer License - Carl's Super I.G.A.: An application for a one-half year off premise Beer License along with the appropriate fee from Carl A. Geertz to be used at 2121 West Main Street (Carl's Super I.G.A.) was presented. The City Manager stated he knew of no reason to deny this application and recommended approval. It was moved by CommissionerGrabow, seconded by Commissioner Lehrkind, that the application be approved and the Director of Finance be instructed to issue the license and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Commissioner Grabow. Commissioner Lehrklnd, Commissioner Vollmer. Commissioner Sedivy and Mayor Langohr; those voting No, none. Reports - Cashier and Director of Public Service: The City Manager commented on the above reports and recommended approval thereof. It was moved by Commissioner Lehrkind, seconded by Commissioner Vollmer, that the reports be accepted and filed and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Commissioner Lehrkind. Commissioner Vollmer, Commissioner Sedivy, Commissioner Grabow and Mayor Langohr; those voting No. none. Authority to Purchase Copper Tubing - Approximately $2,900.00: The Water Department has need of approximately 4.000 feet of 3/4 inch and 1,000 feet of 1 inch copper tubing to be used in the installation and repair of water sewers at an approximate cost of $2,900.00. It was moved by Commissioner Vollmer, seconded by Commissioner Sedivy, that the City Manager be authorized to purchase the tubing and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those being Aye were Commissioner Vollmer, Commissioner Sedivy, Commissioner Grabow. Commissioner Lehrkind and Mayor Langohr; those voting No, none. I I I I I I Examination of Bank Depository Securities: In compliance with the provision of Section 16-2618 R.C.M., 1947, the City Commission proceeded to examine the receipts of Depository Bonds and Securities held by the Director of Finance as security for City funds deposited in Bozeman banks. It was moved by Commissioner Grabow, seconded by Commissioner Lehrkind, that the securities be approved and a list of these be set forth in full in the minutes of the meeting and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Commissioner Grabow, Commissioner Lehrkind, Commissioner Vollmer, Commissioner Sedivy and Mayor Langohr; those voting No,"none.
