HomeMy WebLinkAbout1971-06-02 I I I 1-25 Bozeman, Montana 2 June 1971 The Commission of the City of Bozeman met in regular session in the Commission Room, Municipal Building, 2 June 1971, at 1:15 o'clock p.m. Present were Mayor Langoh~, Commissioner Grabow, Comm- issioner Vollmer, Commissioner Sedivy, City Manager Fryslie, Ass't. City Manager Keyes, City Attorney Berg and the Clerk. Commissioner Sedivy opened the meeting with a prayer and the following proceedings were had: Minutes of the regular session held 26 May 1971 were approved as read. Commission Resolution No. 1468 - Memorial to R. HARRY MORROW: In memoriam to R. Harry Morrow, Commission Resolution No. 1468 was presented, entitled: COMMISSION RESOLUTION NO. 1468 A RESOLUTION OF THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF BOZEMAN, MONTANA, IN MEMORIAM TO R. HARRY MORROW. It was moved by Commissioner Sedivy, seconded by Commissioner Grabow, that Commission Resol- ution No. 1468 be passed and adopted and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Commissioner Sedivy, Commissioner Grabow, Commissioner Vollmer, and Mayor Langohr; those voting No, none. Contract Documents for Execution - SID's 499, 500, 501: The Contract Documents for the construction of paving North Seventeenth Avenue between West Beall Street and Durston Road, SID No. 499, paving West Beall Street from North Twentieth Avenue east to Alley west of North Eighteenth Avenue SID No. 500 and paving of a portion of South Sixteenth Avenue SID No. SOl, as awarded to Long Construction Company, Billings, Montana, on 26 May 1971 were presented. The City Manager recommended that the documents approved as to form by the City Attorney be approved. It was moved by Commissioner Grabow, seconded by Commissioner Vollmer, that the con- tract documents be approved and that the Mayor and Clerk of the Commission be authorized and directed to sign the contracts for the City of Bozeman and that Long Construction Company be authorized to proceed with the construction and that the pledge for bid security be returned to Long Construction Company and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Comm- issioner Grabow, Commissioner Vollmer, Commissioner Sedivy and Mayor Langohr; those voting No, none. Petition for Paving SID - Aspen Street, 5th to 7th Avenue: A petition signed by several property owners of West Aspen Street requesting that the City initiate a Special Improvement District to pave West Aspen Street between North Seventh Avenue and North Fifth Avenue was presented. It was moved by Commissioner Vollmer, seconded by Commissioner Sedivy, that the City Engineer and the City Attorney be instructed to prepare a resolution initiating a Special Improvement District for the paving of West Aspen Street between North Seventh and North Fifth Avenue and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Commissioner Vollmer, Commiss- ioner Sedivy, Commissioner Grabow and Mayor Langohr; those voting No, none. Proclamation, "Dairy Month" June: Mayor Langohr announced his proclamation of the month of June 1971 as "Dairy Month" and en- couraged all people to pay tribute to the nation's vast dairy industry and urged civic and business organizations to cooperate in this observance in public and in private in order that we may enjoy improved health and increased prosperity. It was moved by Commissioner Sedivy, seconded by Comm- issioner Grabow, that they concur in the Mayor's proclamation of June as "Dairy Month" and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Commissioner Sedivy, Commiss- ioner Grabow, Commissioner Vollmer and Mayor Langohr; those voting No, none. Report: The City Manager commented on the report of the Building Inspector and recommended the approval thereof. It was moved by Commissioner Grabow, seconded by Commissioner Vollmer, that the report of the Building Inspector be approved and ordered filed and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Commissioner Grabow, Commissioner Vollmer, Commissioner Sedivy, and Mayor Langohr; those voting No, none. Schedule of Bozeman Municipal Band Concerts: It was moved by Commissioner Vollmer, seconded by Commissioner Sedivy, that the Commission approve the concert schedule of 22-29 June, 13-20-27 July, 3-10-17 August and either the 24th or the 31st of August as the final date and that they be given permission to play at the annual Exchange Club Fireworks display on 5 July. The motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those 126 voting Aye being Commissioner Vollmer, Commissioner Sedivy, Commissioner Grabow and Mayor Langohr; those voting No, none. Commission Resolution No. 1469, Fixing Date, Maturity Date and Amount of SID 499, 500, and 501: Commission Resolution No. 1469 authorizing the issuance of bonds of Special Improvement Dis- trict No. 499 was presented as follows: COMMISSION RESOLUTION NO. 1469 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF BOZEMAN FIXING THE DATE MATURITY DATE AND THE PRINCIPAL AMOUNT OF BONDS TO BE ISSUED IN SPECIAL IMPROVEMENT DISTRICT NO. 499. It was moved by Commissioner Sedivy, seconded by Commissioner Grabow, that the Resolution be passed and adopted and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Commissioner Sedivy, Commissioner Grabow, Commissioner Vollmer and Mayor Langohr; those voting No, none. Commission Resolution No. 1470 authorizing the issuance of bonds of Special Improvement Dis- trict No. 500 was presented as follows: COMMISSION RESOLUTION NO. 1470 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF BOZEMAN FIXING THE DATE MATURITY DATE AND THE PRINCIPAL AMOUNT OF BONDS TO BE ISSUED IN SPECIAL IMPROVEMENT DISTRICT NO. 500. It was moved by Commissioner Grabow, seconded by Commissioner Vollmer, that the Resolutionbe passed and adopted and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Commissioner Grabow, Commissioner Vollmer, Commissioner Sedivy and Mayor Langohr; those voting No, none. Commission Resolution No. 1471 authorizing the issuance of bonds of Special Improvement Dis- trict No. 501 was presented as follows: COMMISSION RESOLUTION NO. 1471 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF BOZEMAN FIXING THE DATE MATURITY DATE AND THE PRINCIPAL AMOUNT OF BONDS TO BE ISSUED IN SPECIAL IMPROVEMENT DISTRICT NO. 501. It was moved by Commissioner Vollmer, seconded by Commissioner Grabow, that the Resolution be passed and adopted and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Commissioner Vollmer, Commissioner Sedivy, Commissioner Grabow and Mayor Langohr; those voting No, none.
