HomeMy WebLinkAbout1971-01-20 78 Bozeman, Hpntani'l 20 Ja'lUary 1971 The Commission of the City of Bozeman met in regular session in the Commission Room, Municipal Building, 20 January 1971, at 1:00 o'clock p.m. Present were Mayor Langohr, Commissioner Morrow, Commissioner Sedivy, Commissioner Grabow, Commissioner Vollmer, CityManager Fryslie, Ass't. City Manager Keyes, City Attorney Berg and the Clerk. Commissioner Morrow opened the meeting with a prayer and the following proceedings were had: Minutes of the regular session held 13 January 1971 were approved as read. ~~<.?.ns~~~01tion of Ord:b21anc~. No. 90~!:.L Amendi.ng Sections_~ Fire ~~: Ordinance No. 90lf amending Section l30lf-010 of the Bozeman Municipal Code and adopting the 1970 edition of the Fire Prevention Code recommended by the American Insurance Association and re- pealing all ordinances and parts of ordinances in connection with Self Service Gas Stations was pre- sented for further discussion following additional study. Several interested persons were also present to discuss the ordinance. The Commission concurred with the request by several persons present that the matter be further considered and it was moved by Commissioner Sedivy, seconded by Commissioner Morrow, that the ordinance be continued for a period of one month for additional study to be presented on Wednesday, 17 February 1971, for further discussion and final action and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Commissioner Sedivy, Commissioner Morrow, Commissioner Grabow, Commissioner Vollmer and Mayor Langohr; those voting No, nene. Amsberry requesting permission to stage a \\Tinter parade in conn- ection with the \\Tinter Carnival on Saturday, 23 January 1971 at IO:OO o'clock A.M. to begin at Buttreys parking lot and proceed on down Main Street to Rouse Avenue was presented. It was moved hy Commissioner Vollmer, seconded by Commissioner Grabow, that the request be granted and the motion \<7as carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye Being Commissioner Vollmer, Commissioner Grabow, Commissioner Sedivy, Comrnissioner Morrm<7 and Mayor Langohr; those voting No, none. It was moved by Commissioner Vollmer, seconded by Commissioner Sedivy, that the request be approved and the permit fee waived contingent upon meeting the requirements of the Bozeman Sign Code with the understanding that in the future a surety deposit be m~de to insure timely removal of such displays. I,e~~"!.:I_::_Tr~~_Servi ce Tl:t..roll&l:1...2?.ozemi"l2:.: It was moved by Commissioner Sedivy, seconded by Commissioner Morrow, that a letter he addressed to Secretary Volpe of the Department of Transportation with copies to the Montana Congressional Delegation expressing the concern of the City Commission in regard to any change in rail service which I I I I I I 79 wo\\ld reduce passenger trains to less than one train each way each day. The motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those vatin?, Aye heing Commissioner Sedivy, Commissioner Morrow; Commissioner Grabow, Commissioner Vollmer and Mayor Longohr; those voting No, none. ~~C?It.:..._~n 4l!;.l.~.,^nnllal Congre?~. of Cities - Atlanta, Ge~l..a....:.._ Commissioner Sedivy reported on his attendance at the National League of Cities 47th Annual Meeting held in Atlanta, Georgia, 7-11 December 1970. Commissioner Sedivy stated the meeting was of a very high level and the experience derived therefrom would be of grat value to the City in the future. It was moved by Commissioner Morrow, secondedby Mayor Langohr, that Commissioner Sedivy be highly commended on his complete resume of the nleeting and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Commissioner Morrow, Commissioner Sedivy, Commissioner Grabow, Commissioner Vollmer and Mayor Langohr; those voting No, none.
