HomeMy WebLinkAbout1970-11-25 61 Bozeman, Montana 25 November 1970 The Commission of the City of Bozeman met in regular session in the Commission Room, Municipal Building, 25 November 1970, at 1:00 o'clock p.m. Present were Mayor Langohr, Commissioner Morrow, Commissioner Sedivy, City Manager Fryslie, Ass't. City Manager Keyes, City Attorney Berg and the Clerk. I Commissioner Sedivy opened the meeting with a prayer and the following proceedings were had: Minutes of the regular meeting held 18 November 1970 were approved as read. Authority to Purchase Fire Hydrants and Cast Iron Pipe - Approximately $2,400.00: The Water department has need for six fire hydrants and cast iron pipe in the approximate amount of $2,400.00 and the City Manager requested authority to purchase the same. It was moved by Commissioner Morrow, seconded by Commissioner Sedivy, that the purchase be authorized as requested and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Commissioner Morrow, Commissioner Sedivy and Mayor Langohr; those voting No, none. ~E'quest to Conduct Muscular Dystrophy Fund Drive, 30 November 1970: Demolay Boys and Rainbow Girls: A request from the Ross Jensen Chapter of the DeMolays and Rainbow girls to conduct their annual house to house solicitation for Muscular Dystrophy Funds was presented. It was moved by Commissioner Sedivy, seconded by Commissioner Morrow, that permission to hold the fund drive on Monday, 30 Nov- ember 1970, be granted and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Commissioner Sedivy, Commissioner Morrow and Mayor l;angohr; those voting No, none. Telegram to Three Members of Congress - Regarding Federal Purchase of Portion of Hyalite Drai.na~ by Forest Service: The City Manager explained that a purchase option held by the U. S. Forest Service for approxi- mately 546 acres of land located in Section 23, Township 4 South, Range 6 East, M.P.M., Gallatin County. Montana, bordering Hyalite Reservoir expires on 6 December 1970. Following a thorough discussion, it was moved by Commissioner Morrow, seconded by Commissioner Sedivy, that the Ci.ty Manager be authorized to direct a telegram to Senator Mike Mansfield, Senator Lee Metcalf and Congressman John Melcher urging them to obtain release of land and water Conservation I Funds sufficient to complete this purchase immediately as the City of Bozeman feels public ownership of land adjointng municipal water supplies is imperative. The motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Commissioner Morrow, Commissioner Sedivy and Mayor Langohr; those voting No, none. Reql2..est to Vacate Alley - North 165' of Block 2, Durston's Second Subdivision: A letter received from Douglas Drysdale on behalf of Howard Nelson requesting that the North 165' of the alley bounded on the North and South by Juniper and Aspen Streets and on the East and West by North Seventh and Eighth Avenues which is adjacent to his land be vacated was presented. It was moved by Commissioner Sedivy, seconded by Commissioner Morrow, that the request be accepted and approved and the City Attorney be instructed to draw up a resolution of intention contingent upon the proposed development actually occuring and upon the use of Cast Iron Sewer under the building and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No ~e: those voting Aye being Commissioner Sedivy, Commissioner MOrrow and Mayor Langohr; those voting No, none. Request for Zone Change - Tract 8-B & 8-C, Homesite Subdivision: A letter received from Wayne A. Esdall requesting that a zoning variance from the "A" Zone to Motor Business, for only that portion of land being used for the operations of Edsall Construction Company known as the East 100' of Lot 8-c and the East 150' of Lot 8-B was presented. Mr. Edsall was present to discuss the proposed zoning change which had been discussed with the Planning Board and to answer any questions. The City Commission concurred with the recommendation of the City Manager and it was moved by Commissioner Morrow, seconded by Commissioner Sedivy, that the request be taken under advisement I and futher study and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No. vote: those voting Aye being Commissioner Morrow, Commissioner Sedivy and Manyor Langohr; those voting No, none. Librarian Cemetery Water Collector Director of Finance Director of Public Service Waste Water Treatment plant Operator 62 The City Manager commented on the reports and recommended the approval thereof. It was moved by Commissioner Sedivy, seconded by Commissioner Morrow, that the reports be approved and ordered filed and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Commissioner Sedivy, Commissioner Morrow and Mayor Langohr; those voting No, none. Ad iournment: There being no further business to come before the commission at this time, (It was moved by I Commissioner Morrow, seconded by Commissioner Sedivy, that the meeting be adjourned and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye issioner Sedivy and Mayor Langohr; those voting No, none.
