HomeMy WebLinkAbout1970-09-30 46 Bozeman, Hontana 30 September 1970 The Commission of the City of Bozeman met in regular session in the Commission Room, Municipal Building, 30 September 1970, at 1:00 o'clock p.m. Present were Mayor Langohr, Commissioner Morrow, Commissioner Sedivy, City Manager Fryslie, Ass't. City Manager Keyes, City Attorney Berg and the Clerk. Mayor Langohr opened the meeting with a prayer and the following proceedings were had: Minutes of the regular session held 23 September 1970 were read and it was moved by Commissioner Morrow, seconded by Commissioner Sedivy, that the minutes be approved as corrected and the motion I was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Commissioner Morrow, Commiss- ioner Sedivy and Mayor Langohr; those voting No, none. F . - 31 October 1970: ...................~-,- Mrs. Carolyn Rogers and Karen Lassey were present to request authority to conduct a U.N.I.C.E.F. drive to be held on Saturday, 31 October 1970. Following a thorough discussion, the City Manager recommended that permission to conduct the Fund drive as requested be granted with the expression that they set another date for the U.N.I.C.E.F. drive in future years in order that it would not conflict with Halloween. The Commission concurred with the recommendation of the City Manager and it \MS moved by Commissioner Sedivy, seconded by Commissioner Morrow, that the request be granted, but that the Church Women United select another date in the future for the U.N.I.C.E.F. drive and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote; those voting Aye being Commissioner Sedivy, Commissioner Harrow and Mayor Langohr; those voting No, none. COMMISSION RESOLUTION NO. 1443 A RESOLUTION OF THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF BOZEMAN, MONTANA LEVYING AND ASSESSING A SPECIAL ASSESSMENT OF TAXES UPON ALL REAL I PROPERTY IN THE CITY OF BOZEMAN, COUNTY OF GALLATIN, STATE OF MONTANA, SERVICED AND FROM WHICH GARBAGE WAS COLLECTED AND REMOVED DURING THE YEAR 1970, TO DEFRAY THE COST AND EXPENSE OF COLLECTING AND DISPOSING OF GARBAGE UNDER THE PROVISIONS OR ORDINANCE NO. 696 OF THE CITY OF BOZEMAN MUNICIPAL CODE. Mont-12S, Haste Hater Treatment Plant - $210,796.00: The Applicant's Payment Request, Form No. CG-22 and CG-23, WPC Mont-12S was prepared for the Federal Water Pollution Control administration, seeking the third grant installment for the City of Bozeman for the construction of the Waste Water Treatment Plant and Sanitary Sewer Project in the approximate amount of $210,796.00 was presented. Following a thorough discussion, it was moved by' Commissioner Sedivy, seconded by Commissioner Morrow, that the Form No. CG-22 and CG-23 for the WPC- Mont. 125 construction grants be approved and forwarded to the Federal Water Pollution Control adm- inistration for c',msideration of the payment request and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting ^ye being Commissioner Sedivy, Comnlissioner Morrow and Mayor Langohr; those voting No, none. R~_~st to conduct Homec,?ming Parade, Rosary High School - 17 October 1970: A request from the Rosary High School for permission to conduct a Homecoming P"rade along Main Street from Rouse Avenue to Buttreys Shopping Center on Saturday, 17 October at 10:00 o'ct'ock A.M. I was presented. The Chief of Police stated that to his knowledge the parade would not create'2 traffic prohlem. In concurrence wi th the recommendation of the Ci ty Manager, it \vas moved by Commissioner Mnrrow, se- conded by Commissioner Sedivy, that permission to conduct the Homecoming Parade be granted as requested and that they contact the Police Department to provide the adequate traffic control for the parade and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Commissioner Morrow, Commissioner Sedivy and Mayor Langohr; those voting No, none. Proclamation, "Fire Prevention Week" 4-10 October 1970, Breakfast 50ctober.1970: 7:00 to 10:00 A.M.: Mayor Don M. Langohr, Jr. announced his proclamation designating the week of 4-10 October 1970 48 as "Fire Prevention Week'l The Fire Chief reported a breakfast, to which the public is invited, will be served at the Bozeman Fire Hall on Monday, 5 October 1970, from 7:00 to 10:00 o'clock A.M. to kick off the annual Fire Prevention Week activities and that the City Fire Department has sche- duled a full program for the entire week. It was moved by Commissioner Sedivy, seconded by Comm- issioner Morrow, that the Kayor's proclamation and program of the Fire Department be concurred in and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Commissioner Sedivy, Commissioner Horrow and Hayor Langohr; those voting No, none. Meeting, H.i.les City, 6 October 1970, Captain Earl Smiley, Jr.: The Police Officers Special Training Commi.ttee have scheduled a meeting to be held in Miles City, Tuesday, 6 October 1970, and the Chief of Police requested authority for Captin Smiley to attend this meeting. It was moved by Commissioner Morrow, seconded by Commissioner Sedivy, that the authority for Captain Smiley to attend the meeting be granted and, it being in the public interest his expenses be paid from the general fund and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Commissioner Morrow, Commissioner Sedivy and Mayor Langohr; those voting No, none. f~oclama ':.~()_n..L....;~z~man Symphony S2-cie ty",Jveel(, l8-2t:!;. Oc t_~be!'_J:2lQ: A request from the Bozeman Symphony Association for permission to conduct a membership drive beginning 17 October and lasting for two weeks and to proclaim the week of 18-24 October as "Bozeman Symphony Society" week was presented. Mayor Langohr proclaimed the week of l8-2l~ October as "Bozeman Symphony Society" week as re- quested by the Bozeman Symphony Association. It was moved by Commissioner Sedivy, seconded by Comm- issioner Morrow, that the request to conduct the annual Bozeman Symphony Society membership drive be approved and that the Mayors proclamati.on as requested be endorsed and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Commissioner Sedivy, Commissioner Morrow and Mayor Langohr; those voting No, none. ~~.~bdivision Pla~, Springhill Park, for Approval: The final plat of Springhill Park was presented. The City Manager in concurrence with the City-County Planning Board recommended that the plat be approved as presented and it was moved by Commissioner Morrow, seconded by Commissioner Sedivy, that the City Manager be authorized and dir- I ected to sign the plat as Director of Public Service and the motion was carried by the follow Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Commissioner Morrow, Commissioner Sedivy and Mayor Langohr; those voting No, none. Reports for August: The City Manager commented on the report of the Sewage Disposal Plant Operator for the month of August and recommended the approval thereof.
