HomeMy WebLinkAbout1976-01-28 4'),1 . t~n Bozeman, Montana 28 January 1976 The City Commission of the City of Bozeman met in regular session in the Commission Room, Municipal Building, 28 January 1976, at 1:15 o'clock p.m. Present were Mayor Vollmer, Commissioner Sedivy, Commissioner Taylor, Commissioner Vandeventer, Acting City Manager Wolf, City Attorney Berg and the Clerk. Commissioner Vandeventer opened the meeting with a prayer and the following proceedings were had. I /,tj'; ::/;-1 "ci';t.'1 Minutes of the regular meeting held on -Monday, '21 January 1976, were approved as read. Consideration of Sodium Silicofluoride Bids (40,000 lbs.) Van Waters & Rogers, $14.10 per c~ The Water Superintendent and the City Engineer having checked the bids on the purchase of 40,000 pounds Sodium Silicofluoride recommended that the bid of Van Waters & Rogers, Billings, Montana, in the amount of $14.10 per cwt., it being the lowest bid and meeting or exceeding the specifications as contained in the "Call for Bids" be accepted. It was moved by Commissioner Sedivy, seconded by Commissioner Taylor, that the Commission con- cur in the recommendation of the Water Superintendent and Engineering staff, also concurred in by the Acting City Manager, and accept the bid of Van Waters & Rogers, Billings, on.the basis of their bid in the amount of $14.10, it being the lowest bid and equaling the specifications as contained in the "Call for Bids". The motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Commissioner Sedivy, Commissioner Taylor, Commissioner Commissioner Vandeventer and Mayor Vollmer; those voting No, none. Authorize "Call for Bids" 3/4 To~X Ll- Pickup - Water Department The water department has need for a 1976 model four wheel drive vehicle and the Acting City Manager requested authorization to call for bids for the purchase of the vehicle. It was moved by Commissioner Taylor, seconded by Commissioner Vandeventer, that the purchase of the 3/4 ton, four wheel drive pickup be authorized and the Clerk of the Commission be directed to issue a "Call for Bids" for the purchase to be received and opened on 11 February, and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Commissioner Taylor, Commiss- ioner Vandeventer, Commissioner Sedivy and Mayor Vollmer; those voting No, none. Application for Raffle License - Associated Students of Mechanical Technology. Extension on Raffle License - Soroptimist International The Acting City Manager presented an application from Associated Students of Mechanical Engi- neering Technology along with the required fee of $10.00 for a raffle license for the purpose of holding a raffle on 20 February 1976. It was moved by Commissioner Vandeventer, seconded by Commissioner Sedivy, that the application for a raffle license be approved and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Commissioner Vandeventer, Commissioner Sedivy, Commissioner Taylor and Mayor Vollmer; those voting No, none. A letter received from Ruth O'Connell, Treasurer of Soroptimist International, Bozeman, re- questing an extension of time on the raffle drawing, from 7 February to 14 February, was presented. It was moved by Commissioner Sedivy, seconded by Commissioner Taylor, that the Commission approve the extension of time on the raffle drawing from 7 to 14 February as requested, and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Commissioner Sedivy, Commissioner Taylor, Commissioner Vandeventer and Mayor Vollmer; those voting No, none. Recess - 1:35 o'clock p.m. It was moved by Commissioner Taylor, seconded by Commissioner Vandeventer, that the Commission declare a recess for the purpose of meeting with the Board of Trustees of the Police Reserve. The motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Commissioner Taylor, Con~issioner Vandeventer, Commissioner Sedivy and Mayor Vollmer; those voting No, none. Reconvened - 1:45 o'clock p.m. POLICE Reserve Board - Disability of Captain Harold F. McDowell effective 1 February 1976 The Police Reserve Board was advised by the Police Commission of its approval of the applica- tion of Captain Harold F. McDowell to be placed on the Reserve list for reasons of physical disability, effective 1 February 1976, in accordance with Section 11-1820, R.C.M., 1947. The Police Reserve Board endorsed the Police Commission's approval of Captain McDowell's application. The City Commission concurred in the Police Reserve Board's endorsement of the Police Commiss~ ion's approval. ------ I I I I I It was moved by Commissioner Taylor, seconded by Commissioner Vandeventer, that Captain Harold F. McDowell be passed from the active police force to the police reserve. The motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Commissioner Taylor, Commissioner Vandeventer, Commissioner Sedivy and Mayor Vollmer; those voting No, none. Resignation - Recreation Board, John D. Robinson Mayor Vollmer stated that it is with regret that he accept the resignation of John D. Robinson from the Recreation Board Effective 1 February 1976, and asked that a letter be addressed to Mr. Robinson expressing the appreciation of the Commission for services rendered on the Recreation Board. I Reports The Acting City Manager presented the Fire Chief's Annual report, and recommended a~ceptance thereof. It was moved by Commissioner Vandeventer, seconded by Commissioner Sedivy, that the report be accepted. The motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Commiss- ioner Vandeventer, Commissioner Sedivy, Commissioner Taylor and Mayor Vollmer; those voting No, none. Contract Documents - Sanitary Sewer Improvements - Palffy's West Main Property The Contract documents by and between the City of Bozeman, Mary Palffy and Intermountain Con- struction for the purpose of Sanitary Sewer improvements on the Palffy West Main properties was presented. It was moved by Commissioner Sedivy, seconded by Commissioner Taylor, that the contract doc- uments be approved and the Mayor and Clerk of the Commission be authorized and directed to sign the contract for the City of Bozeman. The motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Commissioner Sedivy, Commissioner Taylor, Commissioner Vandeventer and Mayor Vollmer; those voting No, none.
