HomeMy WebLinkAbout1975-09-10 35J Bozeman, Montana 10 September 1975 The Commission of the City of Bozeman met in regular session in the Commission Room, Municipal Building, 10 September 1975, at 1:15 o'clock p.m. Present were Commissioner Vollmer, Commissioner Vandeventer, Commissioner Taylor, Commissioner Lehrkind, Mayor Sedivy, City Manager Prys1ie, Assistant City Manager Wolf, and City Attorney Berg. Commissioner Lehrkind opened the meeting with a prayer, and the following proceedings were had. Minutes of the regular meeting held on Wednesday, 3 September 1975, were approved as corrected. Additions to Agenda City Manager Pryslie requested that the Commission accept the addition of two items, the request of the School District #7 for more law enforcement around the junior and senior high schools and the application for a raffle license by the Bozeman Firefighters, to the agenda. It was moved by Commissioner Vollmer, seconded by Commissioner Vandeventer, that the request from the School District #7 and the application for a raffle license be added to the ~ agenda, and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Commissioner Vollmer, Commissioner Vandeventer, Commissioner Taylor, Commissioner Lehrkind, and Mayor Sedivy; those voting No, none. School District #7 - Request for Law Enforcement Several members of the School Board for School District #7 were present to express their concern over young adults congregating around the junior and senior high schools and to request assistance from the City. After discussion, Mayor Sedivy thanked the School Board for their concern and bringing the matter to the attention of the City Commission and suggested that there be a meeting between the Chief of Police, the School Board and the School Administration. Deed for Alley - Tract 3 - Brunton-Pallfy Rearrangement of Durston Subdivision A Bargain and Sale Deed from Walter W. and Lois E. Dunham was presented to the Commission. This deed will complete the alley between North Ninth and North Tenth Avenues from West Beall to West Villard Streets. upon the recommendation of the City Manager, it was ~oved by Commissioner Vandeventer, seconded by Commissioner Taylor, that the Commission accept the Bargain and Sale Deed from Walter W. and Lois E. Dunham for a portion of Tract 3 in the Brunton-Pa11fy Rearrangement of Durston Subdivision to complete the alley, and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Commissioner Vandeventer, Commissioner Taylor, Commissioner Commissioner Lehrkind, Commissioner Vollmer, and Mayor Sedivy; ,those voting No, none. Suggested Code Revision - Zoning Commission - Ordinance No. 960 Ordinance No. 960, proposing certain revisions in the Zoning Commission, was presented along with the Zoning Commission's recommendation for approval thereof, entitled: ORDINANCE NO. 960 Ordinance No. 960, proposing certain revisions in the Zoning Commission, was postponed indefinitely by the Commission on 17 September 1975. 1 I 1 1 1 1 3' h) f) t ~ . It was moved by Commissioner Taylor, seconded by Commissioner Lehrkind, that adoption of Ordinance No. 960 be tabled for a period one week, and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Commissioner Taylor, Commissioner Lehrkind, Commissioner Commissioner Vollmer, Commissioner Vandeventer, and Mayor Sedivy; those voting No, none. Autho!ity to Attend leMA Con~~ce - City ManaRer ~ Seattle - 28 September to 2 October 1975 It was moved by Commissioner Lehrkind, seconded by Commissioner Vollmer, that City Manager Fryslie be authorized to attend the International City Manager's Association convention to be held in Seattle, Washington, 28 September to 2 October 1975, and that Assistant City Manager Wolf be designated as Acting City Manager during this period, and it being in the public interest, the expense be paid by the City. The motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Commissioner Lehrkind, Commissioner Vollmer, Commissioner " Vandeventer, Commissioner Taylor, and Mayor Sedivy; those voting No, none. Reports The following reports were presented: I Po lice Chief Po lice Judge Librarian The City Manager commented on the above reports and recommended they be accepted and ordered filed. It was moved by Commissioner Vollmer, seconded by Commissioner Vandeventer, that the reports be accepted and ordered filed. The motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Commissioner Vollmer, Commissioner Vandeventer, Commissioner Taylor, Commissioner Lehrkind, and Mayor Sedivy; those voting No, none. Con~!a~t Documents - S!D 54? and 553 The Contract Documents for the construction of SID's 547 and 553 were presented. The City Manager recommended that the Contract Documents be approved as presented. It was moved by Ornnmissioner Vandeventer, seconded by Commissioner Taylor, that the con- tracts be approved and the Mayor and Clerk be authorized and directed to sign the contracts for the City of Bozeman, and that Intermountain Construction, Bozeman, be authorized and directed to proceed with the construction of SID's 547 and 553 and that the bid security be returned to Intermountain Construction. The motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Crnmmissioner Vandeventer, Commissioner Taylor, Commissioner Lehrkind, Commissioner Vollmer, and Mayor Sedivy; those voting No, none. Application for Raffle License - Bozeman FirefiRhters - 11 October 1975 The City Manager presented an application from the Bozeman Firefighters, along with the required fee, for a raffle to be held on 11 October 1975. upon recommendation of the City Manager, it was moved by Commissioner Vollmer, seconded by Commissioner Vandeventer, that they approve the application for the Raffle to be held on 11 Octo~er 1975, and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Commissioner Vollmer, Commissioner Vandeventer, Commissioner Taylor, Commissioner Lehrkind, and Mayor Sedivy; those voting No, none. Proclamations: Constitution Week - 17-23 September A proclamation proclaiming 17-23 September as "Constitution Week", as requested by the Montana Society of the National Society of the Sons of the American Revolution, was presented. It was moved by Commissioner Taylor, seconded by Commissioner Lehrkind, that the claims be approved as presented, and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Commissioner Taylor, Commissioner Lehrkind, Commissioner Vollmer, Commissioner Vandeventer, and Mayor Sedivy; those voting No, none. Absence of the Clerk of the Commission In the absence of the Clerk of the Commission, it was moved by Commissioner Vandeventer, seconded by Commissioner Lehrkind, that Mrs. Robin Williams be appointed as Acting Clerk of the Commission, and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Commissioner Vandeventer, Commissioner Lehrkind, Commissioner Taylor, Commissioner Vollmer, and Mayor Sedivy; those voting No, none.
