Brian,
I am writing this letter to express my solid support for the Black Olive project by Andy Holleran
and Home Base. Not only do I support this project, I will continue to support projects of this
type. Bozeman needs more dense infill projects to reduce car travel, and prevent urban sprawl.
Unfortunately several of my neighbors on E Olive (218 is my residence) have become very
outspoken in opposition to this project, and have failed to see the larger more global impact
concerning these developments. Mostly all of these neighbors have bought these properties very
well aware of the zoning conditions that existed at that time. Also they have had plenty of
opportunities to protest any zoning changes and/ or UDO changes and amendments.
My public support of this project will ultimately impact my Real Estate business in a negative
way, as neighbors will likely lackball me for this support. It may also damage some longterm
relationships with my friends and neighbors given the delicate nature of emotions in the
neighborhood. It is very safe to say that many other neighbors feel the exact same way regarding
the very outspoken, and somewhat angry neighbors that are opposing this project.
