The Commission of the City of Bozeman met in regular session in the C~mmission Room, Municipal
Building, 21 May 1975, at 1:15 o'clock p.m. Present were Mayor Sedivy, Commissioner Vollmer,
Commissioner Vandeventer, Commissioner Taylor, Commissioner Lehrkind, City Manager Fryslie,
Assistant City ManagerW'olf, City Attorney Berg and the Clerk.
Commissioner Vollmer opened the meeting with a prayer and the following proceedings were had:
Minutes of the regular meeting held on Wednesday, 14 May 1975, were approved as read.
Open Bids - Truck and ('arbage Packer Units
This was the time and place set for opening bids for one 26,000 lb. Standard G.V.W. Rating
Truck and Rear Loading Refuse Compaction Unit for use by the Sanitation Department. The affidavit
of publication of the "Call for Bids" was presented. It was moved by Commissioner Vollmer, seconded
by Commissioner Vandeventer, that the bids be opened and read and the motion was carried by the
following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Commissioner Vollmer. Commissioner Vandeventer,
Commissioner Taylor, Commissioner Lehrkind and Mayor Sedivy; those voting No, none.
The following bids were then opened and read:

The Commission concurred with the recommendation of the City Manager, and it was moved by
Commissioner Vandeventer, seconded by Commissioner Taylor, that the bids be referred to the Street
Superintendent for their study and final recommendation on Wednesday, 28 May 1975. The motion was
carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Commissioner Vandeventer,
Commissioner Taylor, Commissioner Lehrkind, Commissioner Vollmer and Mayor Sedivy; those voting No,
none.
Open Construction Bids - S.l.D. No. 548
This was the time and place set for opening bids for the construction of paving Arnold,
Henderson, and Colter Streets in Graf' s Third Addition. Affidavit of publication of "Notice to
Bidders" was presented. It was moved by Commissioner Taylor. seconded by Commissioner Lehrkind,
that the bids be opened and read and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote:
those voting Aye being Commissioner Taylor, Commissioner l.ehrkind, ('~mmissioner Vollmer,
r~mmissioner Vandeventer and Mayor Sedivy; those voting No, none.
Long Construction of Billings being the only bidder bid $99.446.00.
The Commission concurred with the recommendation of the City Manager and it was moved by

Commissioner Lehrkind, seconded by Commissioner Vollmer, that the bid be referred to the engineers
representing Thomas, Dean & Hoskins. for final tabulation, consideration and recommendation 28 May
1975. The motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Commissioner
Lehrkind, Commissioner Vollmer. Commissioner Vandeventer, Commissioner Taylor and Mayor Sedivy; those

voting No, none.
Proposed Tennis Clinic - South Side Courts
The Tennis Clinic Proposal for the South Side Courts having been tabled for a period of one
week for further study was again presented.
The Community Recreation Board having further studied the proposal withdrew their request at
this time, pending the result of their present endeavor.
Lions Club - Offer to Construct Park Facility at ~ecreation Complex
A letter received from the Gallatin Empire Lions Club whereby they offered the construction
and equipping of a park near the softball complex in conjunction with the BiCentennial Celebration
in 1976 was presented.
Upon concurrence of the recommendation by the City Manager, it was moved by Sommissioner
Vollmer, seconded by Commissioner Vandeventer, that they approve the Park Facility Program and
authorize the Lions Club to proceed with the construction and that a letter of appreciation be sent
to the Bozeman Lions Club. The motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting

Proclamation_~'Co1lege National Finals Rodeo (",reek';
Mayor Sedivy announced his proclamation of 15-21 June 1975 as "College National Finals Rodeo
Week" in the City of Bozeman as requested by the Bozeman Lions Club, and urged all citizens of this
City and surrounding area to observe in an appropriate manner, such as wearing colorful and typical
attire on this special occasion as a tribute to the colleges hereto represented by these fine young
ladies and men. It was moved by Commissioner Vandeventer, seconded by Commissioner Taylor, that the
proclamation as requested by the Bozeman Lions Club in connection with the National Final Rodeo Week
be concurred in and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being
Commissioner Vandeventer, Commissioner Taylor, Commissioner Lehrkind, Commissioner Vollmer and Mayor
Sedivy; those voting No, none.
License Bond - Valley Electric - Electrician $5,000.00
In compliance with Chapter 15 of the Bozeman Municipal Code, the certificate of Valley Electric
in the amount of $5,000.00 was presented. The City Manager stated the Building Inspector had
recommended approval of the Bond and the City Attorney had approved the bond as to form. It was
moved by Commissioner Taylor, seconded by Commissioner Lehrkind. that the bond of Valley Electric

be approved and accepted and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting
Aye being Commissioner Taylor, Commissioner Lehrkind, Commissioner Vollmer. Commissioner Vandeventer
and Mayor Sedivy; those voting No, none.
Discussion - National Flood Insurance - Mr. Joe Brown, HUD Representative
Mr. Joe Brown representing the Federal Insurance Administration appeared before the Commission
to briefly explain the Flood Program and the National Flood Insurance.

Mayor Sedivy, on behalf of the City Commission, thanked Mr. Brown for presenting the
information to those interested in the Flood Program and National Flood Insurance.
Adjournment
There being no further business to come before the Commission at this time, it was moved by
Commissioner Vollmer, seconded by Commissioner Vandeventer. that the meeting be adjourned. and the
motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Commissioner Vollmer,
Commissioner Vandeventer, Commissioner Taylor, Commissioner Lehrkind and Mayor Sedivy; those
voting No. none.
