HomeMy WebLinkAbout10-31-16, Public Comment,Naumann, InfillCity Commissioners— John Lavey with Community Builders brought the study linked below to my attention. It provides an interesting “before-and-after” perspective on dense(r) residential infill projects in the Boise area. Here is an excerpt from the Executive Summary, but I do recommend taking a closer look at the study. The seven conclusion outlined in the study’s introduction provide a high-level overview of the findings. “The general findings of the study are that many of the factors that create apprehension about infill projects are difficult to measure or their effects are difficult to assess. These factors include density, neighborhood incompatibility, design, and lack of public amenities. The sample of case studies is relatively small, but the quantifiable data was remarkably consistent between the projects. For the factors that can be quantified, including traffic, parking and property values the community fears are generally unfounded for the cases studied.” http://www.idahosmartgrowth.org/app/uploads/2014/04/uliisg_infill_report1.pdf Chris Naumann Executive Director Downtown Bozeman Partnership 222 East Main Street #302 Bozeman MT 59715 406-586-4008 www.downtownbozeman.org
