AGENDA ITEM TYPE: Consent RECOMMENDATION: Authorize the City Manager to sign Contract Amendment No. 6 with Morrison-Maierle. BACKGROUND: For the past several years, the top priority project for the Midtown Urban Renewal Board has been installing sidewalks that are setback from N. 7th Avenue, new architectural street lights, and enhanced landscaping along the corridor. The aim is to enhance the quality of the built environment to attract investment in the corridor. The engineering contract for this work has been extended in phases by amendment. The previous amendment was for design and construction engineering for the third phase of the project, which will be undertaken between Main St. and Villard St. This amendment redirects funds allocated for construction engineering on the Main St. to Villard St. section toward design engineering of a 4th phase of the project between Villard St. and Durston Rd. Staff was optimistic that progress on obtaining easements from property owners would allow construction of the smaller Main St. to Villard St. section during fall 2016. Despite our best efforts, we were unable to procure all of the necessary easements for construction. Since this was not feasible, we request the redirection of construction engineering funds to design of the larger remaining streetscape section.
FISCAL EFFECTS: The engineering work described by Amendment No. 5 was $158,188.03. The District budget for FY17 includes $160,000 for design and construction engineering

of the Main St. to Villard St. section. Amendment No. 6 reallocates $52,837 designated for construction engineering on the Main St. to Villard St. section to designing the full Main St. to Durston Rd. section.
