The Commission of the City of Bozeman met in regular session in the Commission Room,
Municipal Building, 11 September 1974, at 1:15 o'clock p.m. Present were Mayor Sedivy,
Commissioner Vollmer, Commissioner Vandeventer, Commissioner Taylor, Commissioner Lehrkind,
I City Manager Fryslie, Assistant City Manager Keyes, City Attorney Berg, and the Clerk.
Commissioner Vandeventer opened the meeting with a prayer and the following proceedings
were had.
Minutes of the regular meeting held on Wednesday, 4 September 1974, were approved as
read.
Consideration of Bids - Convert 2~ Ton Truck to Fire Truck
The Commission was referred to the opening of bids for the conversion of a 2~ ton
(6 x 6) Army Truck to a Fire Truck for the Fire Department. The bids having been studied
in detail, the City Manager concurred with the Fire Chief, recommending that the purchase
be awarded to Superior Fire Apparatus, Helena, Montana, on the basis of their low bid in
the amount of $9,488.00, it being the lower and equaling the specifications as contained
in the "Ga 11 for Bids". In concurrence with the recommendation of the City Manager, it
was moved by Commissioner Vollmer, seconded by Commissioner Vandeventer, that the conversion
of the Army Truck to a Fire Truck be awarded to Superior Fire Apparatus, Helena, Montana,
in the amount of $9,488.00 and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote:
those voting Aye being Commissioner Vollmer, Commissioner Vandeventer, Commissioner Taylor,

Change Order No. 1 - Recreation Complex Interior Fencing-$800.00
Change Order No. 1 on the Interior Fence Installation, Bozeman Recreation Complex,
as prepared by Morrison-Maierle, Inc. , to become a part of the original contract was presented
as follows:
Description 8 - 5' x 20' concrete dugout slabs in place
Cost 8 (cl $100.00 each $800.00
The City Manager concurred with the engineers and recommended that Change Order No. 1
be accepted and approved as presented. It was moved by Commissioner Vandeventer, seconded
by Commissioner Taylor, that the Change Order be approved and the Mayor and Clerk of the
Commission be authorized and directed to sign for the City and the motion was carried by
the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being Commissioner Vandeventer, Commiss ioner
Taylor, Commissioner Lehrkind, Commissioner Vollmer, and Mayor Sedivy; those voting No, none.
Application for Beer License - Corner Pocket Billiard Lounge
The City Manager presented the application and the appropriate fee for a six month
beer license for the Corner Pocket, located at 120 North 19th Avenue and recommended
I approval thereof. It was moved by Commissioner Taylor, seconded by Commissioner Lehrkind,
that the application be approved and the Director of Finance be instructed to issue the
license and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being
Commissioner Taylor, Commissioner Lehrkind. Commissioner Vollmer, Commissioner Vandeventer,
and Mayor Sedivy; those voting No, none.
Proclamations: Constitution Week - 17-23 September
Learning Disabilities Week - 15-22 September

A proclamation proclaiming 17-23 September as "Constitution Week". as requested by the
Montana Society of the Nationa 1 Society of the Sons of the American Revolution, was presented.
It was moved by Commissioner Lehrkind, seconded by Commissioner Vollmer, that they endorse
Mayor Sedivy's proclamation as presented and the motton was carried by the following Aye
and No vote: those voting Aye being Commissioner Lehrkind, Commissioner Vollmer, Commissioner
Vandeventer. Commissioner Taylor, and Mayor Sedivy; those voting No. none. I
In accordance with the request from the Gallatin Valley Association for ChHdren with
Learning Disabilities, Mayor Sedivy proclaimed the week of 15-22 September 1974, as "Learning
Disabilities f.Jeek" in the City of Bozeman. It was moved by Cornmiss ioner Vollmer, seconded
by Commissioner Vandeventer, that the Mayor's proclamation be endorsed as presented and the
motion was carried by the foll owing Aye and No vote: those voting Aye being r~mmissioner
Vollmer, r~rnmissioner Vandeventer, Commissioner Taylor, Commissioner Lehrkind, and Mayor
Sedivy; those voting No, none.
Application for 16 Foot Ourb Openin2 - Howa,.-d Erwin
An application received from HOWArd Erwin, 409 South Eighth Avenue, requesting a Zoning
Code Curb Cut and Driveway Variance from 10 feet to 16 feet tvas presented.
It was moved by r~mmissioner Vandeventer, seconded by Commissioner Taylor, that they
concur ~,d.th the recommendation of the City Manager and approve the curb Cut Variance from
10 feet to 16 feet at 409 SOlJth Eighth Avenue and the motion was carried by the following

Authority to Purchase Equipment for ~ew Fire Station - $2 , 925 . 22
It was moved hy Commissioner Taylor. seconded hy Commissioner Lehrkind. that they

authorize the purchase of furnishings and equipment for the new Fire Station at an approximated
cost of $2,925.22 per low quote from TerT~lls Offi.ce and Equipment. The motion was carried
by the following Aye and No vote: those voting Aye heing Gommissioner Taylor, Commissioner
Lehrkind, Commissioner Vollmer, Commissioner Vandeventer, and Mayor Sedivy; those voting No,
none.
License Rond - Yellowstone Electric-Electrician. $5 .000.00
Tn comp Bance with Chapter 15 of the Bozeman Municipal Code, the Electdca 1 License
Bond for Yellowstone El ectri.c, Billings. in the amount of $5,000.00 was presented. The
Building Inspector had approved the certificate and the City Attorney approved the bond as
to form with the reservations that the City Manager contact the firms !':upplying these type
bond!': as to notification of their coverage. It was moved by rnrnmissioner Lehrkind. seconded by
Commiss iClUer Vollmer, that the bond be approved with the above reservations and the motion
was carried by the following Aye and No vote: those voting f..ye being Commissfof'er Lehrkind,

This was the time and place set for opening bids for the construction of the City

Wednesday, 18 September 1974, and the motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote:

The City Manager had checked the claims and found them to he true and lawful claims
against the City of Bozeman and recommended that they be approved and the Director of Finance
be instructed to issue warrants in payment. It was moved by Cbmmissioner Lehrkind, seconded

There being no further business to be brought hefore the Commission at this time, it
