WHEREAS, in March 2006 Family Promise of Gallatin Valley began operations dedicated to
helping the most vulnerable among us, children and families who are temporarily homeless; and
WHEREAS, the city of Bozeman recognizes and appreciates the hard work and dedication of
Family Promise volunteers who have changed the face of homelessness through 10 Years of
Service; and
WHEREAS, believing that every child deserves a home, Family Promise of Gallatin Valley and
its more than 2,000 volunteers empower families in making their transition from homelessness to
sustainable independence; and
WHEREAS, over the past 10 years, Family Promise has served over 140 families, graduating
70% of those families with stable housing and employment; and
WHEREAS, the City recognizes Family Promise as an organization that exemplifies giving back,
with a powerful mission to help those in need; and
WHEREAS, Family Promise honors 10 Years of Service and the impact made on family
homelessness in the Gallatin Valley,
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Carson Taylor, Mayor of Bozeman, do hereby proclaim the week of
October 16 through 22, 2016 as Family Promise Week in Bozeman, and in so doing, urge all
citizens to recognize and raise awareness of the issues of homeless children and families in our
community.
