HomeMy WebLinkAbout10-21-16 Public Comment - M. Vant Hull - Mobile Vending Dear Coty Commissioners,
Not to belabor the point, but my latest research on Food Truckers (ordering food
at more of them) shows that some of them take quite a while to prepare their
food after you walk up to them and place an order.
Some of them take up to 20 minutes and that's with just J. or 2 people ahead of
you —and a small, one-person order from me. On busy sidewalks and streets, this
could end up being an additional nuisance, obstacle and safety hazard. Just sayin
Then, thinking after the last Commission meeting, where would this go if it
becomes entrenched policy/culture that Food Truckers can park on on-street
parking? Let's take it to the maximum just as an interesting exercise a la the
fiercest sarcasm of Jonathan Swift in his essay suggesting that their English
masters should eat Irish babies since they were already eating all of Ireland?
So if the Food Trucks get to be an accepted part of on-street parking, why don't
we go whole-hog on the idea, and let everyone and anyone sell from, the on-
street parking spaces? The bricks and mortar will go bankrupt; there won't be
room for anyone to park anywhere; so we could make Bozeman an entirely
"walkable communit
y, " with maybe just one lane for the Food Trucks to get in
and out of.
People could get used to it. Before too long, we'd probably all have driverless
one-person tiny helicopter-type cars that could be parked just like our bicycles are
now,, in home hallways.
Bozeman Montana would be the envy of the world for being the leading edge of
experiment and design.
We might as well laugh and make fun of ourselves once in a while. Let's all
lighten up.
Best regards,
