Lammers - Kagy & Sourdough IntersectionFrom:Jenn To:Agenda Subject:Sourdough & Kagy Date:Friday, September 30, 2016 1:07:02 PM Ms. Carson and County Commissioners: I write to you with regard to an issue of great importance to my family: the danger we face multiple times a day as we attempt to cross Kagy at Sourdough. As residents of the Triple Tree Neighborhood, we have no other viable route when taking our 2 children to and from Longfellow Elementary (where they were assigned due to space limitations at Morningstar) for school each day, to soccer games and practices, or to scout meetings and other after school activities . In the short time we have been here, we have witnessed many near collisions between crossing or turning vehicles and speeding west bound drivers. Timing our own crossing safely often involves long waits and significant frustration - both for us and our neighbors waiting their turn behind us. Adding to the morning complexity, there is a bus stop on the immediately south of Kagy on Sourdough, which when in use limits the number of cars that can cross Kagy and poses an unseen obstacle for cars turning south onto Sourdough from Kagy. Last week, a multi-car/bus collision was only narrowly avoided when the turning car hit its breaks and swerved into the on coming lane to avoid rear ending the cars stopped behind the bus. Luckily, the north bound traffic was abiding by the bus safety rules. We know we are not alone in our concerns and that many of our neighbors also dread the "Kagy crossing". Please do all you can to prioritize installing either a traffic light or traffic circle at this dangerous intersection. Immediate action is required to avoid serious injury or death to a resident living or working in the area. Best regards- Jenn Lammers
