HomeMy WebLinkAbout1980-01-07 L:l G Bozeman, Montana January 7, 1980 This being the time designated by law (Section 7-3-4322, Chapter 1, Title 7, M.C.A. 1979) and Chapter 2.08 of the Bozeman Municipal Code for the reorganization of the City Commission in accordance with the results of the General Municipal Election held on Tuesday, November 6, 1979, the City Commission met at 10:00 o'clock A.~~., January 7, 1980, in the Commission Room, I City Hall Building for reorganization purposes and the transaction of unfinished business. Present were Mayor Sedivy, Commissioner MacNab, Commissioner Vollmer, Commissioner Swanson, Commissioner Vandeventer, City Manager Gesko, and the Clerk. Mayor Sedivy opened the meeting with a prayer whereupon the following proceeding were had. Reorganization of City Commission This was the time and place set in Montana Statute for the reorganization of the City Commission as per the results of the Regular Municipal Election held on Tuesday, November 6, 1979. All unfinished business to be brought before the retiring Commission having been con- cluded, the City Manager reported that the Official Bonds and Oaths of office of Alfred M. Stiff, and Judith A. Mathre, newly elected City Commissioners, for a four year term commencing January 7, 1980, have been approved and said bonds and oaths of office are on file in the office of the Clerk of the City Commission. Retiring Mayor Sedivy commended the other Commissioners, the City Manager's office the City Attorney, the Clerk of the City Commission, and all other staff members for their efforts during his term. The Mayor expressed his appreciation to all' members of the City Commission and City staff for their dedication during his twenty years in office as Commissioner and I Mayor. The City Manager then presented Mayor Sedivy and Commissioner Vandeventer with a plaque in recognition of their term in office. A Gift was also presented to Mayor Sedivy and Commis- sioner Vandeventer on behalf of the City of Bozeman. Each of the recipients of the awards and gifts acknowledged their appreciation for such recognition and expressed their views relating to their terms of office. Each commented that the staff had been very cooperative, and that the task of municipal office never ends - par- ticularly in a growing City such as Bozeman. The Clerk of the City Commission thanked ~1ayor Sedivy and Commissioner Vandeventer for having had the opportunity to serve as secretary during their terms. The Clerk of the City Commission administered the Oath of Office to incoming Mayor MacNab, and the two newly elected Commissioners Alfred M. Stiff, and Judith A. Mathre. Adjournment There being no further business to come before the Commission, it was moved by Commissioner Vollmer, seconded by Commissioner Stiff, that the special meeting be adjourned.
