MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE CITY COMMISSION SPECIAL MEETING July 17, 1978 The Commission of the City of Bozeman met in special session in the Commission Room, Munici- I pal Building, July 17, 1978, at 7:30 o'clock p.m. Present were Mayor Sedivy, Commissioner Vollmer, Commissioner MacNab, Commissioner Swanson, Commissioner Vandeventer (after 8 p.m.), City Manager, Gesko, and the Acting Clerk. Mayor Sedivy opened the meeting with a prayer. Designation of Acting Clerk It was moved by Commissioner Swanson, seconded by Commissioner MacNab, that Robin Williams be designated as Acting Clerk of the Commission for this meeting. The motion was carried by the fol- lowing Aye and No vote, those voting Aye being Commissioner Swanson, Commissioner MacNab, Commissioner Vollmer, and }fuyor Sedivy, those voting No, none. Public Hearing - Use of Revenue Sharing Funds This was the time and place set for a public hearing on the use of revenue sharing funds for Fiscal Year 1979. Commissioner MacNab mentioned the possibility of allocating a small portion of the funds to the Help Center. Following discussion, it was moved by Commissioner MacNab, seconded by Commissioner Vollmer, that the Commission allocate $5,000 of the revenue sharing funds to the Help Center for use in operations only. The motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote, those voting Aye being Commissioner MacNab, Commissioner Vollmer, Commissioner Swanson and Mayor Sedivy, those voting No, none. The following uses of revenue sharing funds had been approved for the Fiscal Year 1978: I 1. Implement traffic control measures and devices as deemed necessary to improve vehicular and pedestrian traffic flow within the City No cost estimate available 2. Construct a central city shop vehicle storage facility Estimated cost $150,000 3. Purchase of pumper truck for Fire Department Obligated $ 43,995 4. Construct addition to municipal building complex Estimated cost $400,000 The Commission recommended that $6,000 be allocated for' implementation of traffic control measures and devices. Following discussion, it was moved by Commissioner Vollmer, seconded by Commissioner Swanson, that the Commission authorize and direct the staff to research the costs of constructing a new central city shop vehicle storage facility. The motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote, those voting Aye being Commissioner Vollmer, Commissioner Swanson, Commissioner Vandeventer, Commissioner MacNab and Mayor Sedivy, those voting No, none. The Commission requested that a committee comprised of the City Manager, City Engineer, and Building Official interview and select an architect to help with cost estimates on this project, as well as on the proposed addition to the municipal building complex. The Director of Finance told the Commission that the monies for the pumper truck for the Fire Department had already been allocated during Fiscal Year 1978. I Following a brief discussion, it was moved by Commissioner Swanson, seconded by Commissioner Vandeventer, that the staff be authorized and directed to research the possibilities of expanding the municipal building complex and the costs of doing so. The motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote, those voting Aye being Commissioner Swanson, Commissioner Vandeventer, Commissioner MacNab, Commissioner Vollmer and Mayor Sedivy, those voting No, none. Adjournment There being no further business to come before the Commission at this time, it was moved by Commissioner Vandeventer, seconded by Commissioner MacNab, that the meeting be adjourned. The motion was carried by the following Aye and No vote, those voting Aye being Commissioner Vandeventer, Commissioner MacNab, Commissioner Vollmer, Commissioner Swanson and Mayor Sedivy, those voting No, none.
