Doing so will eliminate much confusion on jurisdictional issues related to animal control: Pedestrians with animals traveling along the west-east trail that connects Good Medicine Way (via SSROA open space north of Peace Pipe Drive) with Graf Street go through county and city properties numerous times. Use of this trail has dramatically increased due to further development of the subdivisions close to this area. While the annexation process is under way, the Board also requests that an inter-local agreement between Gallatin County and the City of Bozeman for animal control be developed and adopted as soon as possible. Gallatin County property requires a rabies tag for animals, yet the City requires animals to be leashed and owners to pick up after their animals. This causes difficulty and confusion in animal control ordinance enforcement. These two actions are critical for the success of the subdivision's plan to improve animal control in this part of our subdivision's open space to the north of Peace Pipe Drive. These actions will further the subdivision's intent to: Educate the public about leash laws Encourage compliance with animal control requirements Engineer better alternatives for the public's experience with the trails and our open space, and Enforce animal control laws.
