HomeMy WebLinkAbout09-20-16 Public Comment - J. Yates - Kagy & Sourdough IntersectionDear Mayor Taylor and City Commissioners,
I currently serve as Chair of the Triple Tree Ranch Owners' Association and our association
urges you to address the unsafe intersection at Kagy-Sourdough as part of the updated five year
transportation plan that you are currently considering.
Several of our homeowners have approached us to help them express their concerns about this
intersection. They have cited to us numerous close call incidents involving other cars, bikers and
pedestrians, as cars attempt to cross the intersection or turn left from Sourdough or Church
against the steady stream of cars flowing on Kagy. The wait times are even longer during rush hours. Visibility of the cars coming down the hill in the early morning is also greatly impeded by
the sun when it is low in the sky.
It is fair to say that in the minds of most of our residents, the Kagy-Sourdough intersection is the
most unsafe and irritating intersection in town. I've contacted both city staff and your transportation consultant. Both recognize that this intersection is a problem and that there have
been injury-causing accidents there. However, the intersection is not on your current five year
plan to address. Jeff Key's recommendation is that a traffic signal be put there.
On behalf of all of our residents, I urge you to make addressing this unsafe intersection a priority and that you include it in your new five year plan. I think putting a traffic signal on Sourdough-
Kagy would be a very visible and much appreciated transportation improvement by most
Bozeman residents and would address a significant and growing safety problem.
Thank you very much for your consideration.
Sincerely,
Jeff Yates
