HomeMy WebLinkAbout09-16-16 Public Comment - S. Biggs - Kagy & Sourdough IntersectionDear Mayor Taylor and City Council Members,
It's come to my attention that you will soon be considering and prioritizing future road
improvement projects for Bozeman. While I can appreciate there must be many well justified
potential projects within the city for your consideration, none in my opinion could be more urgent
than the dangerous situation at the intersection of Kagy and Sourdough/Church St.
I've personally seen several bad accidents at this intersection and heard of many others due to
the growing traffic flow on both streets and the outdated and inherently dangerous design of this
intersection. Safety aside, the intersection makes it extremely difficult for high traffic hour
commuters to enter the flow of traffic off of Sourdough/Church St. onto Kagy resulting in very
long delays resulting in risky maneuvers of frustrated commuters trying to get to work and
transporting children to school. Pedestrian and bicycle traffic during these periods of high traffic
make the situation even more dangerous as many drivers are so anxious to take advantage of
an opening in oncoming traffic that they fail to see pedestrians entering the intersection. As the
south and east side of the area continues to grow, so will the problems at this very dangerous
intersection.
Please consult with your experts on this and I feel confident they will give you the necessary
detail to support my concerns.
Thank you for considering this badly needed road improvement project in your short term
transportation plan.
