HomeMy WebLinkAbout07-25-16 Public Comment - T. Wells - Black OliveI am writing due to concern about the proposed building at the southeast corner of Black and Olive. I
understand that it was an initial proposal only.
A six story building in that location would create a canyon effect on Olive and South Black. It will also
dwarf the beautiful Willson building across the street. Four stories should be the maximum at that
location. Furthermore, the top two stories must be stepped back so that they do not create the
beginning of a canyon effect at that location. The massive building by the same group going up on
Mendenhall is not stepped back at all. It creates a tremendous overhang on the streetscape. It should
have been stepped back.
These types of buildings are good for infill but also must work to create the smallest impact on our
walkable town. The alternative is deep canyons which destroy the small town atmosphere and tend to
accelerate traffic. One is under construction. The second should be reduced to four stories with the top
two stories stepped back.
Thank you for your attention.
