ORDINANCE NO. 1287
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF BOZEMAN,
MONTANA, ADOPTING THE 1988 EDITION OF THE UNIFORM HOUSING CODE AND
PROVIDING FOR VIOLATIONS THEREOF.
Preamble
The purpose of this Code is to provide mrnlmum standards to safeguard life
or limb, health, property and public welfare by regulating and controlling the use
and occupancy, location and maintenance of all residential bui Idings and structures
within this jurisdiction.
The purpose of this code is not to create or otherwise establish or
designate any particular class or group of persons who wi II or should be especially
protected or benefited by the terms of this code.

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF BOZEMAN, MONTANA:
Section 1
That Chapter 15 of the Bozeman Municipal Code be and the same is hereby amended by
adding the following new section: Adoption by reference of the 1988 Edition of the Uniform
Housing Code.
That certain documents, three (3) copies of which are on file in the office of the Building
Official of the City of Bozeman, Montana, and at the offices of the City Clerk of the City of
Bozeman, 411 East Main Street, Bozeman, Montana, being marked and designated as the 1988
Edition of the Uniform Housing Code is hereby adopted by reference to be enforced within the
jurisdictional limits of the City of Bozeman, Montana.
Section 2
Violation.
It shall be unlawful and punishable by fine not to exceed Five Hundred Dollars ($500) for
any person, firm or corporation to erect, construct, enlarge, alter, repair, move, improve,
remove, convert or demolish, equip, use, occupy or maintain any building or structure or cause
or permit the same to be done in violation of this code. Every day that the violation continues
shall be deemed a separate offense.
Savings Provision.
This ordinance does not affect rights and duties that matured, penalties that were
incurred or proceedings that were begun before the effective date of this ordinance.
Section 4
Severabi Iity .
I f any provision of this ordinance is declared unconstitutional, or the applicability thereof
to any person or circumstances is held invalid, the constitutionality of the remainder of the
ordinance and applicability thereof to other persons and circumstances shall not be affected
thereby.
PROVISIONALLY PASSED, ADOPTED AND APPROVED by the City Commission of the City
of Bozeman, Montana, this 2nd day of October, 1989.

FINALLY PASSED, ADOPTED AND APPROVED by the City Commission of the City of
Bozeman, Montana, this 16th day of October, 1989, and effective thirty (30) days after said
date.
