private home owners to rent out a spare room in their personal home ... and this how many
AirBnB hosts use this service. When the available room(s) are part of an owner's private
residence, then rentals are permitted in most cities. Furthermore, when there are no separate
kitchens involved, only private bed and bath, this is not a potential loss of housing. Using AirBnB for renting entire houses (non-owner occupied) and apartments with cooking facilities
out on a regular basis is an entirely different matter, similar to that of VRBO. I think it's
important to maintain this distinction. Rentals of rooms in a private home is not a loss of
available affordable housing. It is also important to remember that not only do these AirBnB
(guest room) guests have to dine out for meals which is a boost to our local food and entertainment businesses, the additional income provided these homeowners helps AirBnB hosts
offset the skyrocketing taxes for those living in the city of Bozeman. Thank you.
