Message: Regarding the affordable housing options: I was appalled at the suggestion of using
Peet's Hill, but I am also distressed by the option of using part of the Story Mill Park location. As
one of the voters supporting the open spaces initiative, this option makes me question the
council's commitment to that initiative. No one had in mind a low cost housing development in
that space. I also object to the city investing in affordable housing in any manor, including land donation. This seems like one of those rare clear market issues. If employers are not paying
people enough to live in Bozeman, they need to raise their pay scales, including the city, the
county, the state. And, yes, I know this will cause taxes to go up - which should slow growth - a
good thing.
