Action/Discussion Items 1. 2016 Board Goals  Terry brings up BBAB’s past and future involvement in Clean Up Day. Allyson reviews the city solid waste involvement moving forward. She is meeting with city staff involved in this event on Friday and will update the BBAB board moving forward. The BBAB supports a future “clean up day” and will continue to help with this event moving forward if there is leadership from the city fiscally. We are happy to be involved through volunteering time, raffle prizes, more?  Suggested goals: more face time with the commission/get more involved in city specific beautification goals, develop another city- wide beautification project, move forward the adopt-a-park program, entryway beautification, research what other communities are doing for beautification projects and develop an idea of new ideas with what new goals we’d like to develop? We also want to ask the commission what they would like from us? We talked about scheduling a special meeting to discuss our future with them and what they would like to see from us. o Include in special meeting preparation: BBAB past successes, what is the value of the board and why it needs the support of the city o It is important that the city realize that we as an advisory board are very committed to enhancing the public interests in being a part of city wide event for the positive effects that our projects have generated in the past. Page 2- BBAB minutes for the meeting of January 20, 2016 o City staff involvement actually has a tremendous benefit for liaisons because they feel a much better handle on the pulse of what is needed to make a cohesive connection with the public. o We should have a general meeting with the commissioners and a separate meeting with advisory boards. G. Future Agenda Items ◦ Next month’s advisory agenda should discuss a different meeting time because of conflicts with Commissioner Pomeroy’s schedule. ◦ Homework for next meeting: Each Beautification Board member to bring forward a beautification project that they personally believe in and one that they believe the City should help push forward (keep in mind the Board’s purpose and responsibilities); also each Board member should think about the benefits of City Advisory Board, in particular the Beautification Advisory Board H. Meeting adjourned at 5:59pm. Minutes taken by Ellie Staley.
