AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF BOZEMAN,
MONT ANA, ESTABLISH I NG THE MISDEMEANOR OFFENSE OF SHOOTI NG AN
ARROW, BOLT, QUARREL, OR OTHER MISSILE OR PROJECTILE FROM A BOW OR
CROSSBOW AND PROVIDING THE PENALTY THEREFOR.
Preamble
The purpose of this Ordinance is to provide for public safety by the regulation I
and control of the shooting of arrows, bolts, quarrels, or other missiles or
projectiles from bows and crossbows within the jurisdictional limits of the City of
Bozeman, Montana.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF BOZEMAN, MONTANA:
Section I
1. Except as provided in subsection (2) and (3), every person who fires, propels, shoots or
discharges an arrow, bolt, quarrel or other missile or projectile from a bow or crossbow within
the jurisdictional limits of the City of Bozeman, Montana is guilty of a misdemeanor and
punishable by a fine not exceeding FIVE HUNDRED DOLLARS ($500,00),
2, Arrows, bolts, quarrels or other missiles or projectiles may be discharged in an indoor or
outdoor archery range if said archery range is approved and licensed by the City of Bozeman,
Montana,
3, Subsection (1) does not apply if the shooting of the bow or crossbow is justified as
specified under Title 45, Chapter 3, Part 1 of the Montana Code Annotated,
PROVISIONALL Y PASSED, ADOPTED AND APPROVED by the City Commission of the City
of Bozeman, Montana, this 8th day of September, 1987.
