ORDINANCE NO. 1205
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF BOZEMAN,
MONTANA, AMENDING CHAPTER 15.24 OF THE BOZEMAN MUNICIPAL CODE
REGULATING THE ALTERATION, ADDITIONS AND REPAIRS OF ALL
STRUCTURES IN THE CITY OF BOZEMAN; PROVIDING FOR THE PROPER LEGAL
STEPS IN ABATING DILAPIDATED, DEFECTIVE BUILDINGS WHICH ENDANGER
LIFE, LIMB, HEALTH, MORALS, PROPERTY, SAFETY, OR WELFARE OF THE
I GENERAL PUBLIC OR THEIR OCCUPANTS; AND REPEALING ORDINANCE
NUMBERS 1044 AND 1122.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF BOZEMAN, MONTANA,
AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1
That Chapter 15.24 of the Bozeman Municipal Code be and the same is hereby amended
to read as follows:
5.24.010 Document Adopted by Reference--Copies on File.
A certain document, three copies of which are on file in the office of the Building
Official of the City of Bozeman, being marked and designated as the "Uniform Code for the
Abatement of Dangerous Buildings, II 1985 Edition, published by the I nternational Conference of
Building Officials, be and the same is hereby adopted as the Abatement of Dangerous Buildings
Code of the City of Bozeman for regulating the alterations, additions, and repairs of all
structures in the City of Bozeman; providing for the proper legal steps in abati,ng dilapidated,
defective buildings which endanger life, limb, health, morals, property, safety, or welfare of
the general public or their occupants; providing penalties for the violation of such code; and
each and all of the regulations, provisions, conditions and terms of such "Uniform Code for the
Abatement of Dangerous Bui Idings, II 1985 Edition, published by the I nternational Conference of
I Building Officials, on file in the office of the Building Official, are hereby referred to, adopted
and made a part hereof as if fully set out in this ordinance; save and except such portions
thereof as have been deleted, modified, or amended as hereinafter set forth.
Section 2
Ordinances Repealed.
All other ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict with the provisions of this
ordinance are hereby repealed. These are:
Ordinance No. 1044, entitled AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF BOZEMAN, MONTANA,
ENACTING SECTION 14.32 OF THE BOZEMAN MUNICIPAL CODE, REGULATING THE
ALTERATION, ADDITIONS, AND REPAIRS OF ALL STRUCTURES IN THE CITY OF BOZEMAN,
MONTANA; PROVIDING FOR THE PROPER LEGAL STEPS IN ABATING DILAPIDATED,
DEFECTIVE BUILDINGS WHICH ENDANGER LIFE, LIMB, HEALTH, MORALS, PROPERTY,
SAFETY, OR WELFARE OF THE GENERAL PUBLIC OR THEIR OCCUPANTS; PROVIDING
PENAL TIES FOR THE VIOLATION THEREOF; REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES AND PARTS OF
ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT THEREWITH, passed on November 28, 1979, currently codified as
Section 15.24.020, Bozeman Municipal Code;
Ordinance No. 1122, entitled AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF BOZEMAN, MONTANA,
ENACTING SECTION 15.24.010 OF THE BOZEMAN MUNICIPAL CODE, REGULATING THE
ALTERATION, ADDITIONS AND REPAIRS OF ALL STRUCT.URES IN THE CITY OF BOZEMAN,
MONTANA; PROVIDING FOR THE PROPER LEGAL STEPS IN ABATING DILAPIDATED,
I DEFECTIVE BUILDINGS WHICH ENDANGER LIFE, LIMB, HEALTH, MORALS, PROPERTY,
SAFETY OR WELFARE OF THE GENERAL PUBLIC OR THEIR OCCUPANTS IN THE CITY OF
BOZEMAN, MONTANA, passed on February 7, 1983, currently codified as Section 15.24.010,
Bozeman Municipal Code.
Section 3
Savings Provision.
This ordinance does not affect rights and duties that matured, penalties that were
incurred or proceedings that were begun before the effective date of this ordinance.

Section 4
Severabili!y
If any provision of this ordinance is declared unconstitutional, or the applicability
thereof to any person or circumstances is held invalid, the constitutionality of the remainder of
the ordinance and applicability thereof to other persons and circumstances shall not be affected
thereby.
PROVISIONALLY PASSED, ADOPTED AND APPROVED by the City Commission of the City I
of Bozeman, Montana, this 21st day of April 1986.
