HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance 85- 1182 Adds 88 18.04.425 and 18.04.565; amends 88 18.38.010 and 18.38.020, zoning U41 ORDINANCE NO. 1182 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF BOZEMAN, MONTANA, ADDING SECTIONS 18.04.425 AND 18.04.565 AND AMENDING SECTIONS 18.38.010 AND 18.38.020 OF THE BOZEMAN MUNICIPAL CODE, PROVIDING FOR NEW DEFINITIONS AND THE EXPANSION OF THE REQUIREMENTS IN THE TECHNOLOGY RESEARCH DISTRICTS IN THE CITY OF BOZEMAN, MONTANA. I BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF BOZEMAN: Section 1 That Section 18.04.425 be added to the Bozeman Municipal Code to read as follows: 18.04.425 Pi lot Plant. "Pilot plantll means an establishment or part thereof used to test out concepts and ideas, to determine physical layouts, material flows, types of equipment required, and costs, and to secure other information prior to full-scale production. (Note: The pilot plant is usually an intermediate step between laboratory research and full-scale production. It requires monitoring and supervision by other than the usual production personnel and may involve frequent changes in physical layout, material flows, or even processes. Pilot plants may produce production-grade goods, particularly during the latter stages of the pilot plant process. However, if the pilot plant is switched to full production and operation and used for other than testing, it shall be treated as a principal permitted used.) Section 2 That Section 18.04.565 be added to the Bozeman Municipal Code to read as follows: I 18.04.565 Technology Research Establishment. "Technology research establishment" means an establishment or other facility for carrying on investigation in the natural, physical or social sciences, or engineering and development. It may include pilot plant operations as an extension of investigation with the objective of creating end products. Sect ion 3 That Section 18.38.010 of the Bozeman Municipal Code be and the same is hereby amended to read as follows: 18.38.010 Intent. The intent of the IlTR" Technology Research District is to provide for technology research establishments with high-quality settings and facilities which will encourage a wide range of high technology industries, services and research activities. These areas should be developed so as to recognize the impact on surrounding residential development and to contribute to the overall image of the community. Compatibility with adjacent land uses and zoning is desirable. Sect ion 4 I That Section 18.38.020 of the Bozeman Municipal Code be and the same is hereby amended to read as follows: 18.38.020 Permitted Uses. Permitted uses in the TR District are as follows: A. Accessory uses including, but not limited to, business and personnel services and recreation fad Iitles; ORDINANCE NO. 1182 U42 B. Administrative and research office facilities; C. Conditional uses as provided in Chapter 18.52; D. Laboratories; E. Light manufacturing and assembly compatible with intent of district; F. Pilot plants; I G. Prototype development; H. Public utility facilities; I. Signs (one identification sign per establishment); J. Technology research establishments; and K. Temporary buildings for and during construction only.
