Jam Continuance Commission Memorandum DATE: June 3, 2016 REPORT TO: Honorable Mayor and City Commission FROM: Rebecca Owens, Associate Planner Wendy Thomas, Director of Community Development SUBJECT: Continue the public hearing on application 16199, Jam Fusion Café Conditional Use Permit and Certificate of Appropriateness Application from June 20, 2016 to July 11, 2016. AGENDA DATE & ITEM TYPE: June 20, 2016: Action RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends that the Commission continue the public hearing to July 11, 2016. RECOMMENDED MOTION: I hereby continue the public hearing on application 16199, Jam Fusion Café Conditional Use Permit and Certificate of Appropriateness Applications from June 20, 2016 to July 11, 2016. BACKGROUND: This is an application for a conditional use permit to allow on-premise sales and consumption of alcohol as a reuse of a former leased retail space, and application for a certificate of appropriateness for the modification of a building exterior at the ground level for the proposed Jam Fusion Café, located at 25 West Main Street. The proposed 1,700 square feet of indoor and outdoor (patio) serving area and 1,900 square feet of kitchen space are adjacent to the historic Hawthorn building and Bent Lens store. The Development Review Committee (DRC) reviewed the CUP application on June 1, 2016, and determined that the application was inadequate for continued review, such that the DRC has not completed a recommendation for the project proposal. For review to continue, the applicant has decided that they will revise the CUP application and submit an original COA application with the CUP to allow for exterior modifications. Therefore, this item must be continued to July 11, 2016 to permit the applicant time to address issues and provide updated noticing for the hearing. UNRESOLVED ISSUES: None. ALTERNATIVES: The City Commission has the following alternative actions available: 1. Set an alternate date for the public hearing. FISCAL EFFECTS: None identified at this time.
