Message: I am writing to oppose the proposal to build any housing on Peet's Hill. I do support
looking at sights to build affordable housing, I just don't believe Peet's Hill is the place. First,
Peet's Hill is a gem for Bozeman. Open space is very important to this community and I believe
any housing there would have a negative impact and signifiigant backlash from the citizens. Increased traffic, noise to a place people gather, walk, and find some quiet meditative time would
be forever lost. Second, the Veteran's Memorial is at the top edge of the cemetery and that
housing would be the backdrop to a peaceful and contemplative space. I can't imagine holding a
Memorial Day ceremony with cars driving by, music playing, dogs barking. It is cemetery land
and should remain quiet and peaceful. It may look good on a map to infill that space, but it does not, in the big picture, reflect a welcomed space for housing. Their are other places better suited
with less impact to our open space.
