HomeMy WebLinkAboutC5 - Res. 4694 Landfill Work Directives Commission Memorandum REPORT TO: Honorable Mayor and City Commission FROM: Rick Hixson, City Engineer SUBJECT: Story Mill Landfill SVE/LFG Project, Work Directives 1 Through 6 MEETING DATE: June 13, 2016 AGENDA ITEM TYPE: Consent RECOMMENDATION: Adopt Resolution 4694 Authorizing the City Manager to Execute Work Directives 1 through 6, Story Mill Landfill SVE/LFG Project. RECOMMENDED MOTION: Upon consideration of staff background and public comment, I move that we adopt Commission Resolution Number 4694, authorizing the City Manager to execute Work Directives 1 through 6, Story Mill Landfill SVE/LFG Project. BACKGROUND: Attached are copies of work directives 1 through 6 for the above referenced project. The purpose of these work directives is as follows: 1 - Coordinate with NorthWestern Energy to make changes necessary to accommodate de-energizing electrical service to allow well installation. Estimated cost of this change is $2,863.35. 2 - Revision to pipe depths to accommodate local conditions. Estimated cost of this change is $0.00. 3 - Standby time during drilling. These changes were directly requested by the city. Estimated cost of this change is $13,980.34. 4 - Install valves and fittings which will allow future expansion at gas wells not receiving leachate pumps. Estimated cost of this change is $2,338.64. 5 - Extension of compressed air and leachate lines to GW 15. Estimated cost of this change is $2,061.73. 6 - Extend additional air injection piping to AI-5 and AI-6. Estimated cost of this change is $9,680.03. The final recommended changes in cost and time for these items is reasonable, commensurate with the work involved and at the request of the city. 83 UNRESOLVED ISSUES: None ALTERNATIVES: As suggested by the City Commission. FISCAL EFFECTS: Cumulatively these work directives increase the contract amount by $30,924.09 from $1,025,233.00 to $1,056,157.09. This amount is an increase of 3% of the total contract amount, which is actually outstanding for a project of this size. Attachments: Work Directives 1 through 6, Resolution No 4694 Report compiled on: 6/1/16 84 1 of 2 COMMISSION RESOLUTION NO. 4694 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF BOZEMAN, MONTANA, APPROVING ALTERATION/MODIFICATION OF CONTRACT WITH CK MAY, BELGRADE MONTANA. WHEREAS, the City Commission did, on the 7th day of December, 2015, authorize award of the bid for the LFG/SVE Treatment System at the Story Mill Landfill, to CK May Excavating, Belgrade, Montana; and WHEREAS, Section 7-5-4308, Montana Code Annotated, provides that any such alterations or modifications of the specifications and/or plans of the contract be made by resolution; and WHEREAS, it has become necessary in the prosecution of the work to make alterations or modifications to the specifications and/or plans of the contract. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Commission of the City of Bozeman, Montana, that the proposed modifications and/or alterations to the contract between the City of Bozeman, a municipal corporation, and CK May Excavating, as contained in Work Directives 1 through 6, attached hereto, being necessary to the work are hereby approved; and the City Manager is hereby authorized and directed to execute the contract Work Directives for and on behalf of the City; and the City Clerk is authorized and directed to attest such signature.
