HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance 84- 1094 Amends prior code § 2.08.200, public library board of trustees . 188 ORDINANCE NO. 1094 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF BOZEMAN, MONTANA, AMENDING SECTION 2.08.200 OF THE BOZEMAN MUNICIPAL CODE PROVIDING FOR THE RE- DEFINING OF THE COMPOSITION OF BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE PUBLIC LIBRARY OF THE CITY OF BOZEMAN, MONTANA. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF BOZEMAN: I SECTION 1 That Section 2.08.200 of the Bozeman Municipal Code be, and the same is hereby amended to read as follows: 2.08.200 DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WELFARE--LIBRARY TRUSTEES. The Board of Trustees of the Pub'! ic Library of the City of Bozeman shall be under the department of Public Welfare. Said Board shall be composed of five persons, and shall be appointed by the Mayor with the advice and consent of the Commission and shall serve without pay. The Trustees shall hold their office for the term of five years, and one Trustee shall be appoint~d annually at the begin- ning of each fiscal year, for the term of five years and until his/her successor is appointed and qualifies. Trustees shall serve no more than two full terms in succession. Before entering upon the duties of their office, the Trustees shall take and subscribe to the oath of office and file the same with the Clerk of the Commission. The powers and duties of said Board shall be those prescribed by the laws of the State of Montana, and the ordinance of the City. The Trustees of the Library Board shall perfect their own organization, and select such officers for said Board as they may deem advisable. The Chairman and Vice- Chairman of said Board shall be one of their number. I They shall have power to select such librarians and other employees as they may determine and fix the amount of any bond which they may require to be given by the librarian and other employees. They shall have power to receive books from all sources for the use and benefit of the Library and to purchase books therefor with any money available for that purpose and power to prescribe all rules and regulations for the use of books and the preservation of the same. Said Board shall keep a record of its transactions and shall make a report to the City Commission at the close of each 'calendar year, covering the business transacted by it during said year. SECTION 2 This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after thirty (30) days after its adoption.
