HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance 81- 1083 Amends §§ 10.16.140 and 10.16.150, sewage treatment 14,8 11';": , ' ORDINANCE NO. 1083 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF BOZEMAN, MONTANA, AMENDING SECTIONS 10.16.140 AND 10.16.150 REDUCING THE DISCHARGE LIMITS FOR BIOCHEMICAL OXYGEN DEMAND AND SUSPENDED SOLIDS. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF BOZEMAN: I Section 1 That Section 10.16.140 of the Bozeman Municipal Code be, and the same is hereby amended to read as follows: 10.16.140 Approval. required for discharge of certain sewage. The Engineer's approval shall be required for the admission into the public sewers of any waters or wastes having the following characteristics: (1 ) A five da.y B.O.D. greater than two hundred fifty parts pe,r mill ion by weignt; (2) More than two hundred parts per million by weight of suspended solids; (3) Containing any quantity of substances described in Section 10.16.090; (4) Having an average daily flow greater than two percent of the average daily sewage flow of the city. Section 2 That Section 10.16.150 of the Bozeman Municipal Code be, and the same is hereby amended to read as follows: (10.16.150) Preliminary treatment facilities. Where it is necessary in the opinion of the Engineer to provide preliminary treatment of sewage to: ( 1) Reduce the B.O.D. to two hundred fifty parts per million and the suspended soHds to two'hundredparts per million by weight; or I (2) Reduce objectionable characteristics or constituents to'within the maximum limits provided by this' chapter; or (3) Control the quantities and rates of discharge of such waters or wastes; the owner shall provide proper facilities at his own expense. Plans, specifications and other pertinent information concerning the proposed facil ities shall be submitted for the approval of the :Engineer and the state board of health. No construction shall be commenced until such approvals are obtained in writing. Section 3 All existing Ordinances in conflict herewith are repealed. Section 4 This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after thirty (30) days after its adoption.
